In the week from November 29 to December 5, the latest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV was released. Additionally, there were some exciting articles about New World, Lost Ark, and WoW. We at MeinMMO have summarized the most important MMORPG news.
The highlight of the week: The new expansion Endwalker for Final Fantasy XIV was released on December 3 for players who had pre-ordered. It brought several new features, including:
- The jobs Sage and Reaper, for which we have created guides
- An increase in the level cap
- New areas where you can also learn faster riding
- New outfits that turn men into delicate maids
The controversy of the week: New World has announced changes to the equipment system for 2022, which have not been well received. Especially crafters and traders are unhappy with it.
The discussion of the week: Players repeatedly call for a restart of New World, similar to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch thinks: That’s nonsense:
New mount for Guild Wars 2, adjusted classes and outfits in Lost Ark
This happened in the major MMORPGs:
- In WoW, there are currently two major discussions. One is about the motivation of the jailer, which has disappointed many players. On the other hand, details about the incubus were shared, which can optionally replace the succubus from patch 9.2.
- In Guild Wars 2, a beta event ran until December 4, where you could test the latest mount – the giant siege turtle.
- Black Desert has announced a major overhaul of a total of 17 classes for 2021.
- New World has released the new patch 1.1.1, which has fixed some bugs from the last major update. Additionally, the large December update with adjustments to the endgame and a winter event was introduced.
This happened in the minor MMORPGs:
- Lost Ark has implemented changes for Europe, which some players call censorship. Additionally, a popular class was removed and replaced by another for the Western release.
- The YouTuber Josh Strife Hayes has criticized his former favorite MMORPG on YouTube for being too Pay2Win now.
- We released a video in which the current story of Swords of Legends Online is summarized.
- Nexon, the developer of MMOs like Maple Story, has sued a private server for 336,777 euros.
- Lineage 2M, which we introduced to you last week, was released in the West on December 2.
- The Lord of the Rings Online is providing compensation for EU players due to translation errors (via MassivelyOP).
- ArcheAge has restarted under publisher Kakao Games. However, the start was delayed by 24 hours. There is still criticism towards Kakao Games for charging subscription fees for ArcheAge Unchained.
This happened in the MMORPGs in development:
- Crimson Desert will be a new MMO from the creators of Black Desert. A new video showed how beautiful the game looks.
- Broken Ranks will be an Old School MMORPG and has now revealed details about the shop.
- The VR MMORPG Zenith is set to start its beta on December 18 (via MassivelyOP)
