The server slam ended on May 14 with the last test before the release of Diablo 4. You now have to wait until June to play again. Although Blizzard wanted to “destroy the servers”, almost everything went smoothly and so well that fans are ecstatic. Some are even calling for the game to be released immediately – it couldn’t possibly get any better.
This was the test:
- The server slam ran from May 12 to May 14, during which the capacities for Diablo 4 were to be tested.
- Unlike the open beta, there were hardly any problems: no queues, few lags, hardly any bugs. We followed the progress in the live ticker.
- The server slam was also the last chance to secure all beta rewards. Accordingly, the test was highly sought after.
These are the first voices: Even on the first day, players largely agreed that the server slam “is the best release in Blizzard’s history”. Now, after the test, the subreddit for Diablo 4 is full of feedback on the beta.
Players are excited about almost every aspect: graphics, music, combat system. The story is also generating enthusiasm. Even concerns about the shared world have partially disappeared because many players were able to make new friends.
Some even jokingly demanded that the game should be released immediately. There can’t be much more improvement, and Sunday was also Mother’s Day. The release would be perfect to spend the day with “Mama Lilith”.
We shared our opinion on Diablo 4 right after the first beta. Little has changed since then:
“I upgrade to the more expensive version to play earlier”
Particularly high praise was given to the optimization on PC. Diablo 4 will be released for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox with full crossplay support. And PC ports of games that are released on all platforms have had major issues lately.
The new Diablo ran smoothly for most players and without significant problems:
Amidst the sea of AAA games that launched this year with TERRIBLE performance on PC and in times of outright broken launches, I was genuinely concerned about how this game would run on my older system. But I experienced no frame drops, not even stuttering. Really happy with it!

In fact, the enthusiasm goes so far that at least one player says they would upgrade to one of the more expensive versions of Diablo 4. With the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition, they can start playing 4 days earlier than with the Standard Edition.
Here on MeinMMO, Diablo 4 is also well-received after the test. Higi says: The server slam went super well […] I’m really looking forward to the release.
and reader MisterK writes:
The game is top-notch. Everyone writes that they have no chance at the World Boss, the game is ruined and whatnot. Nonsense. Nothing was ruined […] After the debacle of Immortal, another ray of hope.
By the way, Diablo 4 runs so well, that you can even play it on a laptop on the train. Just the Wi-Fi is not always optimal:
Is anything also not well-received? During the beta, there were major discussions about balance. Especially the nerf of the necromancer was controversially received. Blizzard has since made adjustments.
In general, Diablo 4 has apparently become significantly harder compared to the beta. Simple “slaughtering” is hardly possible anymore. This continues to cause disputes among players, but after the server slam, there are more and more people defending the difficulty.
Especially the difficulty of Ashava, the only world boss in the beta, is being hotly debated. This is because you had to kill her to receive the exclusive reward. But even here, some larger threads say: “Stop complaining about Ashava. The game is good.”
There are still two factions regarding loot. In the server slam and at release, there are fewer legendaries than in the open beta. While some casuals and especially fans of Diablo 3 criticize, most “old-timers” are at least happy about more grind.
When can I play Diablo 4? The official release of the game is on June 6 at 1:00 AM German time. Those who buy the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition can already play on June 2 at 1:00 AM. The game will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
