After a disappointing test of Ghost Face in Dead by Daylight, the killer is now getting some serious powerful buffs and is expected to become a true threat.
The initial excitement about the announcement of Ghost Face in Dead by Daylight quickly faded when players noticed how bad the new killer was. There were problems everywhere, so many players already felt on the PTR that Ghost Face was a disaster. He was regarded as the weakest killer in the game.
This apparently forced the developers to take action. A new version of Ghost Face on the PTR brought many extremely powerful buffs.
What will be improved about Ghost Face?
Overall, there are several changes to many mechanics of Ghost Face. He will be harder for survivors to spot, his ability will become more powerful and last longer. Here are the details:
Changes to Ghost Face’s sounds: Some adjustments concern the range of audio signals that Ghost Face emits. It will be harder for survivors to hear him at long distances.
- The map-wide sound when Ghost Face activates his ability Night Shroud will be removed. Survivors will no longer be warned when he enters his “Stalk” mode.
- The audible range of the sounds Ghost Face makes has been reduced from 16 meters to 8 meters.
Changes to revealing: For survivors, it was too easy to reveal Ghost Face and thus throw him out of his ability. Most changes are here.
- Reduced revealing range: Survivors now need to aim the camera relatively centrally at Ghost Face to reveal him.
- A small buffer time has been established so that survivors cannot just wildly swing their camera around to reveal Ghost Face.
- The time to reveal Ghost Face has been increased from 1.0 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
- The necessary visible mass of the killer for revealing has been increased. You can no longer reveal Ghost Face just by seeing a small part of his cloak.
- Ghost Face will receive a warning when a survivor is about to reveal him.
- Ghost Face learns the position of the survivor through a short “Killer Instinct” effect (like with Legion) that completely reveals him.
- Night Shroud now hides the killer’s red mist at all times, not just when he is crouched.
- The crouching movement speed has been increased from 3.45 m/s to 3.6 m/s.
- A bug has been fixed that allowed survivors to reveal Ghost Face before Night Shroud was active.
Improvements to Stalking: Lastly, there are some noticeable improvements to stalking, that is, secretly observing the survivors.
- The stalking progress is no longer reduced over time. Instead, it resets when the survivor is marked, hit, or knocked down.
- The duration of the “Exposed” effect on marked survivors has been increased from 20 to 45 seconds.
Buffs make for a solid killer: All these buffs together ensure that Ghost Face will be a solid if not quite strong killer at his release, representing a real threat to survivors. Whether further adjustments will be necessary can only be determined after his release.
When will Ghost Face be released? The release of Ghost Face is just a few days away. Starting June 18, 2019, you can play as Ghost Face. Since he is a licensed killer, you will have to purchase him with real money and cannot unlock him with in-game currency.
Are you looking forward to Ghost Face? What do you think of his buffs?
