The Quick Resume feature of the Xbox Series X is a really great innovation. But unfortunately, it doesn’t always work. Microsoft wants to address the issue.
What does Quick Resume offer? With Quick Resume, you can leave a game on the Xbox Series X at any point, play another, and simply return. You continue exactly where you left off. This allows you to switch seamlessly between multiple games – as long as the feature works.
Quick Resume doesn’t always work
What is the problem? There are reports that Quick Resume apparently does not work with every game. And this is not only the case with Xbox One titles played through backward compatibility. It seems to occur with the following titles:
- Borderlands 3
- Destiny 2
- Dirt 5
- Forza Horizon 4
- NBA 2K21
- The Falconeer
- Watch Dogs: Legion
- Yakuza: Like A Dragon
What happens with these games? If you leave the game and want to return later, you won’t find yourself at the spot where you stopped but at the home screen. Then, you need to load the last save game.
Why is this annoying? Quick Resume is the “killer feature”, a function that no other console offers. Being able to pick up exactly where you left off is incredibly convenient. Therefore, it is unfortunate if this feature does not work as expected.
What does Microsoft say about this? The company has already commented on this issue. On the official website, it is already listed under the “Known Issues” of the Xbox Series X/S. It states:
Although Quick Resume is fully functional with thousands of games, we are aware that there may be issues with this feature in a select number of optimized titles. To ensure the best possible experience for our fans, we have disabled the feature for these titles and are working to remedy this as quickly as possible.
When will the fix come? Currently, there is still no date for an update. Microsoft is working on it. This means players will need to be patient for a while.
