Destiny 2 will receive a major update on January 29th. Among other things, there will be numerous adjustments for the Black Armory forges. What will change?
This is included in the January update for Destiny 2: The update 2.1.4, set to be released on January 29, 2019, will reorder weapon balance, and the Supers of the Guardians will be broadly adjusted as well.
But not only the sandbox is affected by this update. The player experience around the Black Armory forges is also set to improve at the same time.
Changes with the January update 2.1.4 at the forges
What has already changed: The first change occurred shortly after the launch of the first forge, Völundr. The initial level requirement turned out to be too high, preventing many players from immediately diving into the new content. Subsequently, Bungie nerfed the forge and lowered the requirements.
These changes are still to come: Since then, the studio has been diligently gathering feedback and will implement the following changes on January 29th to improve the forge experience:
- The ballistic logs required to acquire a Powerful Weapon Form from Ada-1 will no longer be removed by the Weekly Reset. So, if you have less time one week, this will not have a significant impact on the logs
- Additionally, players will be able to carry up to 5 ballistic logs in their inventory
- Furthermore, you will receive the following refunds if you keep unfinished weapon forms beyond the Weekly Reset: for Gold Forms you receive 1 ballistic log back, for Silver Forms 3 Modulus Reports. You can continue to acquire up to 2 Gold Forms per week
- Each Glimmer Matrix required to convert a calibrated weapon form at Ada-1 into a Glimmer will be removed with the Weekly Reset
- There should no longer be any weapon forms disappearing or missing from Ada’s inventory from week to week
- The lore of the Black Armory will then be available more frequently. The drop rate has been increased from 10% to 20%. However, a successful forge ignition is now required to have a chance for a drop
- If Modulus Reports or ballistic logs are lost, they will go to the post office with the new update and will not simply disappear
- Forge badges obtained through completions of the forges will no longer require the completion of a specific loot run
- The quest step of the Gofannon forge, where players need to take out a high-value target on Nessus, will no longer require players to deal the final blow to the target for the step to be counted. Progress will then count for all members of the fireteam
- Issues with the mysterious chest will be addressed: Missing keys for the mysterious chest will be applied retroactively: In some cases, the keys for the chest can disappear upon being used, without being applied. This has then blocked progress. These keys will be applied retroactively
Additionally, Bungie has hinted that more changes and bug fixes for the forges may be included in the final update.
This is what the January update brings for owners of the Annual Pass: All those who own the Year Pass for Forsaken can look forward to the exotic quest “The Temptation” on January 29th. This quest also comes as part of the update 2.1.4 and is intended to lead players to the 5th and final exotic weapon of the “Black Armory” DLC – the hand cannon “The Last Word”.
