Apparently, Jake Song, creator of the MMORPG ArcheAge, was unaware that Trion Worlds was acquired by Gamigo and that ArcheAge now has a different publisher in the “West”.
However, Song now aims to work with Gamigo to ensure that the MMO stabilizes and receives the new update as soon as possible.
Developer Surprised
What happened? A few days ago, it became known that Gamigo acquired the assets of Trion Worlds and nearly the entire staff was laid off. This hit the fans of ArcheAge hard, as Trion is the publisher of the MMORPG in the West.
The acquisition of Trion Worlds has already affected the game, as the release of Update 5.0 has been postponed indefinitely. Accordingly, the fans expressed great concern and anger.
This is how the developer reacts: Jake Song, who founded ArcheAge with his gaming company XLGames, published an open letter in the MMO’s forum expressing his shock about the situation. He was apparently as surprised by the acquisition as the players.
According to Song, XL Games has already contacted Gamigo, and he hopes that news regarding Update 5.0 will be released soon. XL Games wants to ensure that ArcheAge stabilizes.
He also assures the fans that he continues to work on ArcheAge with his company.
He aims to ensure that the MMORPG aligns with the vision he initially had for the game in the coming year. Additional updates are already in development.
The Concerns Remain
Players remain very concerned: Although Jake Song’s words have calmed some players a bit, there is still great concern in the community regarding the future of ArcheAge.
exidorr states in the official forum: “I want to thank Jake Song for the comment. Although many had hoped for a statement saying that everything is alright and that it continues tomorrow, the words did provide some encouragement.”
FlyBynight explains on MMORPG.com: “Why was he so shocked? XL Games contributed to the fate of Trion Worlds, as they constantly worked against adapting ArcheAge for the Western audience.”
ArcheAge fans will therefore have to continue to be patient for what is to come.
