Due to a bug, the two exotic weapons Perfected Outbreak and Whisper of the Worm in Destiny 2 are currently easier to obtain than ever before. If you are missing these exotics – this is your chance.
These are the weapons in question: Currently, you are able to get 2 exotic weapons noticeably easier than usual. These are the exotic sniper rifle Whisper of the Worm and the exotic pulse rifle Perfected Outbreak. Both exotics are quite powerful and rank among the best currently available in the exotic arsenal.
Why are the exotic weapons so easy to obtain right now? Both weapons are tied to their own quest, which ends in a special mission. For the Whisper, it is the mission “Whisper.” For the Perfected Outbreak, it is “Zero Hour.”
Both missions are designed to be quite challenging and present a real challenge for some guardians. However, currently, both missions are almost like a walk in the park.
Apparently, a bug is responsible for this, making the enemies in these missions significantly easier and noticeably less resilient.
In short: You still need to be careful not to get shot down by the enemies (they still deal damage) and you still need to master the jumping sections. However, the enemies noticeably drop faster – whether they are red bars, majors, or even bosses.
For instance, the Fallen boss at the end of Zero Hour was already on the ground after a Nova bomb and a few shots from the LMG. You can see how this plays out in practice in this video from Esoterickk:
At the moment, the missions are also quite feasible solo. If you are missing one of these weapons, now is a good opportunity to change that.
Do you need to pay attention to anything special? Not much. There isn’t a real trick or anything. You just need to complete the missions normally. They are already significantly easier by themselves.
For loadout, Esoterickk uses the Recluse, a sniper, and the LMG 21% Delirium. For class, he goes with the Void Warlock.
He hardly uses the sniper; instead, he effortlessly fights through each enemy group to the boss with the combination of the LMG and the submachine gun.
The LMG is the best alternative for the heavy slot, as you have the most ammunition here – enough to wipe out all the tougher enemies. Otherwise, you can take just about any weapon and class and still be successful. Risky, Huckleberry, the Summit – all of these weapons also work excellently there.
While this is generally not a free pass, the mission should be manageable solo under these conditions and with the shown setup, as long as you know the way and have mastered the jumping sections. The enemies drop after just a few shots – even from a primary weapon.
What about the heroic missions for the masterwork catalyst? If you want to level the respective catalyst to upgrade the two weapons to masterwork, you need to complete the heroic versions of the two missions.
The bug can help you here as well. Because Zero Hour is also noticeably easier on heroic than usual. If you previously had problems with the timer, you should try again now.
The heroic version of Whisper is also supposed to be easier due to the bug, but I could not determine during my own attempt that it was easier than usual. However, maybe the bug itself has bugged out or just took a little break.
In short: If you are still missing Whisper of the Worm or Perfected Outbreak in your exotic collection or want to level the catalyst, you should tackle the respective missions now. They are currently easier than ever.
How long this will last is currently uncertain. Bungie has not commented on this yet.
