When the new housing feature of Guild Wars 2 was introduced with Janthir Wilds, the perfect building kit for creatives landed in Tyria. Whether it’s the Eye of Sauron, a giant chessboard, or a Sci-Fi rocket station – the possibilities of the editor seem endless.
What is the community building in Guild Wars 2? In our “MMORPG News in Two Minutes” from September 15, 2024, MeinMMO had already celebrated some works from the community of Guild Wars 2. For instance, heroes of Tyria used the kit of the homesteads introduced with Janthir Wilds to build the Eye of Sauron, a hobbit estate, or a Greek temple.
Since then, players have continuously found new ways to stretch the tools of the editor and place constructions in the fantasy world of Tyria that actually don’t belong there or – on the contrary – fit in wonderfully.
A beautiful example of how powerful the tool is was posted by Dry_Picture_9836 a few hours ago on Reddit. It features five screenshots showcasing a self-built rocket station. Alongside is a character that would fit more into a Sci-Fi setting with their equipment.
Here is the trailer for the update “God’s Brood” from Guild Wars 2 – Janthir Wilds:
Like another game …
How is the community reacting to the rocket station? The players are celebrating the creation.
- skoryy jokes on Reddit: “Choya Space Program.”
- mammothxing is impressed (via Reddit): “That is surprisingly accurate.”
- grannaldie has a suspicion on Reddit: “So this is how people came to Tyria.”
- CornerOf12th celebrates on Reddit: “Creativity at its finest. 11/10, well done, OP.”
- Taygeta wants to know: “The first picture felt almost like another game. What are your wardrobe skins?”
The response from Dry_Picture_9836: This is the Special-Ops set, the Hazard-Response backpack, and the “CJ-1 Command Sleeves” as gloves.
Just the tip of the iceberg: Many more creations from the community were recently celebrated by the developers in a dedicated video that went live on all official channels – for example, here on X. In 60 seconds, you will see among other things, a fortified castle, tree settlement, a giant chessboard, or a Japanese Zen garden.
How do you like the works from the community? By the way, the first major content update for the expansion Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds has already gone live, featuring a very special raid challenge: After 5 years without a raid, the MMORPG Guild Wars 2 finally gets a new one, and it’s up to you whether this will be the last one
