A new general order has been won in Helldivers 2 with excellent and democratic strength. Normally a reason to celebrate, but players are now disappointed. After the thanks from Über-Earth, many fans would have preferred to lose.
What was that general order about? In the last general order, Helldivers had two options to exercise just democracy over their enemies:
- Hold Claorell until the general order expires
- Defend against 8 attacks from the Illuminated
The majority chose to defend Claorell, thereby preventing the Automatons from expanding further. After the victory, 50 medals for war bonds and the feeling of freedom awaited. But many fans were disappointed because the victory announcement hinted at more fun.
Defeat might have brought new enemies
What are fans disappointed about? The victory announcement always reveals the final result of a general order to the Helldivers, and there was one after the victory of Claorell. It announced that Über-Earth had intercepted enemy transmissions. The Automatons reported on their plans to use the forge to replace their old jet brigade with something much more ruthless and malicious.
Many fans assume that if the Helldivers had decided differently or even lost, they would have received a new enemy group of Automatons. Reddit user Master_Majestico summarizes it well: “Congratulations on your victory, Helldiver, here is your punishment.”
Majestic-Ad6525 instead hopes that the Illuminated will now get more love and not again the bugs or robots. They have far too few units compared to the other factions.
So far, the fight feels like a tug-of-war where factions are pushed back but also gain ground. However, new units would definitely have brought variety to the battle.
What are fans craving? Above all, new content. Whether it’s an expansion of the Illuminated, new stratagems, mission objectives, or ship modules. Players want something new to work towards. Because currently, once the new war bond has been played through, there is nothing to work towards except the repetitive general orders and missions.
It remains to be seen what Arrowhead is preparing behind the scenes. The fight is not over yet, and the black hole of Meridia is still making a direct path to Über-Earth.
