GTA 6 had to take a deep blow at the end of 2023: There was a huge data leak that revealed a lot about the game. An insider at Rockstar Games claims that the head nearly postponed the reveal out of frustration.
For years, Rockstar Games and Take Two remained silent about GTA 6. This has led to much speculation surrounding the highly anticipated video game.
On November 7, 2023, the planned announcement of GTA 6 was taken away from Rockstar Games. Journalist Jason Schreier from Bloomberg magazine revealed on X, formerly Twitter, that Rockstar plans to announce GTA 6 soon and wants to release a trailer in December.

Delay to “annoy” a journalist
Sam Houser, co-founder of Grand Theft Auto, actually wanted to be the first to announce the game. He was so upset about the previous leak that he seriously considered postponing the announcement.
Data analyst Tez2 said: “I remember that [Sam Houser] wanted to postpone the announcement in November by a week just to annoy Schreier, but he was dissuaded from that.” (via Dexerto)
Whether Tez2 is telling the truth cannot be fully verified.
Shortly after, the trailer itself was also leaked, forcing Rockstar Games to bring forward the reveal of the trailer to avoid falling behind. Since that trailer in December 2023, there has been no new information, except that the game is set to be released in 2025.
How does the community react? On reddit, Tez2’s information was posted. The comments believe what is described and understand Sam Houser’s reaction:

- Onaip314: “Yeah, it must be annoying when everything is spoiled by people on the internet. I would bet this is true. Sam going completely crazy in his office, lmao”
- gerhudire: “If I were Sam Houser and it was about the second trailer, I would intentionally leak false information to Jason Schreier just to see if he publishes it.”
What is the consequence of the leaks? Since players haven’t received news otherwise, such as in the form of screenshots, they are dissecting every frame of the trailer, and the pressure on Rockstar is increasing immeasurably. Earlier, a GTA launch seemed much more relaxed.
