The head of Lost Ark at Smilegate answered questions in an interview on the Twitch channel Crown. He was also asked why the MMORPG was delayed and if New World was a reason for that.
What kind of interview was it? The Twitch channel Crown is launching an Arkweek for the launch of Lost Ark, during which the new MMORPG will be the focus for the entire week.
In an event for the start of Arkweek, the head of Lost Ark was also interviewed and casually placed on a throne. One of the first questions from the moderators was why the MMORPG was actually delayed.
What does he say about it? He primarily emphasizes that Lost Ark was not delayed because of New World. The game from Amazon was no indicator for the progress of Lost Ark.
The game had to be released later because the localization of content from T2 and T3 took longer than planned. Additionally, he wanted to have T3 and Legion Raids in the game as soon as possible.
To make that happen, he made a personal request to Amazon to see these contents implemented. This request was seemingly answered positively, as we are now launching with T3 content.
And the first Legion Raids are expected to follow in a month. Nevertheless, all these reasons have led to the MMORPG needing to be delayed and not being able to meet the original release date.
What does he expect from the launch?
What does the head say further? He also reaffirms his expectation that he anticipates about 200,000 concurrent players at launch. Everything beyond that would be a personal win for him.
A LOA ON, an event at the end of the year that is very relevant in Korea, should not happen for the West for the time being. That should only happen when the game in our version has caught up with the Korean version and both are on the same level, which would be his biggest goal.
What does he advise new players? He emphasizes that everyone should play the game at their own pace to get the most enjoyment out of Lost Ark. New content won’t disappear and can be played at any time.
When asked what he would say to people who claim his game is Pay2Win, he states that Free2Play players should not expect any hurdles.
