In Pokémon GO there was once again a change in attacks and new moves have been added to the game. Especially, Psychic is gaining a lot.
This is the change: On Friday evening, Niantic announced that they have been working on the attacks and that the PvP mode has been changed. Such changes happen regularly and can suddenly make some Pokémon very useful.
But are there any big winners this time? We will show you the actual effects of the changes.
How strong the changed attacks really are
This is the big winner: Among the changes, there is mainly one clear winner: the attack Psychic. It is now even stronger than the attack Future Sight. This was not the case before.
Thus, Psychic is now the best charged attack for Alakazam and Espeon. However, it is particularly interesting for Latios. This was previously not really interesting for psychic attackers, but that is now changing.
So it is after Mewtwo with Psycho Boost the best attacker in a Machamp raid. It even makes Alakazam and Espeon look bad.
This change was necessary: With the introduction of Psycho Boost for Mewtwo, Psychic became completely unnecessary. It was previously the only psychic charged attack that Mewtwo could learn and was therefore still useful. Thanks to Psycho Boost, the attack became pointless.
Now Psychic has become significantly better and is not a bad alternative for Mewtwo at all. So if you do not have a good Mewtwo with Psycho Boost, you can also rely on Psychic and not lose much power.
The gap between Mewtwo with Psycho Boost and other psychic Pokémon is now significantly smaller. This was important for the balance of the game.
What other winners are there? The other attack changes are mainly interesting for PvP. Thanks to the new moves Spark and Ice Fang, some Pokémon now have a broader move set. But the improvements to Water Gun and Power-Up Punch could also become really interesting for PvP.
Also the Pokémon that can learn new attacks are mainly of interest for PvP. Thus, Alolan Raichu and Mantine especially benefit from their new attacks. So if you play a lot of PvP, there are two new candidates.
The other improvements to attacks are not really decisive. The meta has not changed, so you are not really missing anything here.
