In Destiny 2, the rock in the surf, Commander Zavala, is set to fall victim to a nasty assassination. This would bring excitement to Season 13, yet somehow the Guardians show no fear.
Nothing new? In Destiny 2, a routine has slowly set in during Season 13. A large portion of the content announced in the roadmap is now live. With this week’s reset, there was for the first time no new battleground and no secret mission like the spooky fun of Harbingers.
But indirectly, it was announced that Guardians are supposed to die and that the next on the hit list is our stoic leader Commander Zavala. Stop, Guardians can’t just die like that, can they?
This is interesting: As every week, a new quest awaits you that requires you to repel the legions of the power-hungry Empress Caiatl.
- In “Trial by Fire IV,” Crow sends you through the solar system in a proud 11 quest steps.
- However, the tasks are neither lengthy, nor epically staged, nor particularly memorable.
- It’s generic stuff like, defeat X enemies with precision hits or loot the Lost Sector “The Pit” (which most players probably haven’t entered in years – hence, here’s the location in the video by Nexxoss Gaming).
- In the end, it turns out that the Cabal have a device that can sever the connection to the Light of the Traveler. Similar to the Vanilla campaign when the Traveler was “captured” – just now in pocket-sized format.
This dark future for Destiny 2 is foretold
Crow then reports that Guardians have not returned from their missions in recent days, that there were suddenly casualties, and that Commander Zavala is likely the target of a large-scale assassination.
This is not only Caiatl’s wicked plan, but this future has been predicted by a kind of oracle. Zavala is to be punished for not playing by the rules once. In bad-ass fashion, he showed the Cabal: Guardians kneel to no one.
That Zavala’s life is thus on the brink should instill a good amount of fear in the Guardians. The exemplary Titan and head of all Guardians is really about to bite the dust?
It would be exciting if one could believe it …
That’s why it’s very unlikely: In the middle of a season, is such a famous character as Zavala supposed to be the victim of an assassination? The last time there was a death like this was with Forsaken – and that was a huge, game-changing expansion.
Only when we are severed from the power of the floating orb, then a death is irretrievable. However, since we are always accompanied by a Ghost, a creature of the Traveler, the Ghost must first go or the darkness must swallow all light.
The idea itself is cool: Guardians must fear for their lives again and don’t have endless lives like after a cheat code. But it is much more likely that Zavala will walk out of Season 13 with his head held high.
By the way, we’re not addressing any circulating leaks at this point.
This is how it could happen: In the worst case, not even the players will prevent the assassination attempt. While the Guardians are busy slogging through a mindless loot grind, Crow will save Zavala. This proves that the resurrected as a Guardian Crow is Cayde’s successor (at least that’s the prevailing theory).
Do you think that Bungie wants to spice things up with the announcement that Commander Zavala’s life hangs by a thread? Or do you consider it highly unlikely that such a well-known character could actually die? Let us know in the comments.
The story surrounding Calus and the horror ship Glykon continues this week. There you will learn dark details about an ever crazier ex-emperor. Oh, and there’s also a random roll of the new exotic: Destiny 2: This is how you get the exotic Tale of a Dead One in the new Harbingers quest
