On June 18th, the toughest version of the 12-player activity in Destiny 2 went live. Less than 24 hours later, possibly the best solo PvE player in Destiny history, Esoterickk, had conquered it. His tactic: playing patiently and carefully.
Who is the god of Destiny 2?
- Esoterickk has been considered a master for many years when it comes to conquering content in Destiny solo.
- Unlike his colleagues like Gladd, Esoterickk is more of a quiet and modest guy who doesn’t boast but delivers.
- His YouTube channel, where he uploads his heroic feats, has 474,000 subscribers.
Esoterickk conquers the Grandmaster version just one day after launch
This is the latest achievement: With “The Final Shape,” Destiny 2 has introduced a mission that is actually meant for 12 players for the first time. In “Excision,” players are to experience the final conclusion of the 10-year story.
The “Grandmaster” version, which is the particularly difficult version of the activity, only went live on June 18th, but Esoterickk conquered it within a few hours. His video was released on June 19th.
How did he do it? Esoterickk played a Hunter who was invisible most of the time during the mission. He used a Void-Hunter build with the Exo “Graviton Penitence” for this.
The time when he dealt damage to the boss, however, lasted quite long, as he reveals.
Esoterickk writes with his usual self-criticism, there is certainly still a lot to optimize, but he wanted to play it safe because it was his first clear and he wasn’t yet familiar with most spawns.
In trying to conquer the boss solo, he died about 7 times, but that was mostly because he was too impatient and wanted to speed up the fight. So, he took it particularly slow.
Well, if it were only that easy for us mortals.
We already reported on Esoterickk last week, discussing how he manages to start the duo mission solo, because it’s actually not possible: An expert in Destiny 2 plays the hardest content solo, but he has to trick for the new duo mission
