In FIFA 19, the goalkeepers are already facing criticism before release. Beta leaks show that the goalkeeper AI is getting worse instead of better. Bad goalkeepers are a constant point of criticism for players.
In recent days, the closed beta of FIFA 19 has run. Actually, beta participants were not allowed to talk about the game or publish gameplay material – yet some leaks have emerged.
What do the leaks say about the goalkeepers? According to the beta leaks, the goalkeepers in FIFA 19 are rather worse than in FIFA 18.
Do the goalkeepers in FIFA 19 cause a lot of frustration? – Fails in Video
What is the problem with goalkeepers in FIFA 19? A few videos are circulating on reddit showcasing the new goalkeeper AI in an unflattering light. The clips may be taken down soon, so check them out quickly (if the video appears blank for you, click on the title to view it directly on reddit):
In the video, a shot is slightly deflected, causing the ball to roll towards the goal. The goalkeeper seems completely overwhelmed by the situation. He lets the ball roll a meter past him, just watching it and conceding the goal.
In the next short clip, the goalkeeper also does not make a good impression. In an attempt to reach the ball, he jumps a good distance past it:
“fIFa 19 WiLl bE dIfFeReNt” I had to back up the one from early. I saw this one on twitter. from r/FIFA
Many users react incredulously in the comments. One person writes that it is unbelievable how bad the goalkeepers are.
Others reminisce a bit about the time of FIFA 15, when EA advertised that the goalkeepers were now much better and more realistic. FIFA 19 now reminds of the terrible keepers from the past.

Are these just negative isolated cases being seen here?
We at Mein-MMO were able to play FIFA 19 in mid-July – and at the event, the goalkeepers did not convince us either.
Unfortunately, the goalkeepers in our matches were a disaster across the board. Every single normal long-range shot ended up in the goal, as the goalkeepers reacted far too late.
Once the ball casually flew just a few centimeters past the goalkeeper, and instead of reaching out his hand, the goalkeeper threw himself to the ground as if struck by lightning. The goalkeeper was, by the way, no stranger, but Hugo Lloris.
Sure, Manuel Neuer made some brilliant saves that looked really good. But we were really surprised at what the goalkeepers were allowing to go in. You can read our detailed impressions of FIFA 19 here.
EA Sports still has time to adjust the goalkeepers
Will it get better upon release? We at Mein-MMO could only test a pre-release demo, and the beta also only represents an early version of FIFA 19.
After all, the beta took place for this purpose: to identify, correct, and make adjustments for possible errors. EA Sports still has over a month to bring the goalkeeper AI to a higher level.
By the way, the goalkeepers in FIFA are discussed anew every year in the community. Whether FIFA 19 will succeed in satisfying the community in this regard will be seen in the future.
FIFA 19 will be released on 28.9. for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. With early access, it starts three days earlier.
