In Destiny 2 the players solved the puzzle of the Corridors of Time. This brought the players to their limits. We look at the moment of triumph and what rewards came from such effort.
When did it end? The puzzle began on Tuesday evening with the weekly reset. It was solved today on Monday morning around 10:12 AM German time, in the middle of the night in the USA.
The Creative Lead of Destiny, Robbie Stevens, congratulated the Guardians on solving the puzzle. Community Manager dmg04 then sent them to bed. He was consistently worried about the health of the Guardians over the past few days, advising them to have snacks, enough water, and sufficient sleep while they often spent nights working on the puzzle.
Community works together
Who solved it? Ultimately, it was a joint effort of the Destiny 2 community. Players had been working for days to solve the puzzle. Information was compiled in large spreadsheets that seemed to grow more complicated and larger with each passing hour.
The puzzle was a labor of love, Bungie had already said that this was a marathon, not a sprint.
The player who got through first and went through the “final code” was likely the Twitch streamer Sean “Gladd” Gallagher (31), who had previously worked on the puzzle in marathon streams.
The streamer Gladd was, as seen with “Niobe Labs”, ultimately the one executing the plans and ideas of the community. He thanked everyone who participated and made solving the puzzle possible.
Here you can see the moment when Gladd runs through the correct combination of passages in the Corridors of Time and finally switches the quest to “Objective complete”.
What awaited the players at the end? Those who completed the puzzle stood before their own grave, the grave of the Guardian.
Here the voice of Saint-14 could be heard, giving a eulogy for the Guardian. We have reproduced the speech in an article. This was exactly the speech that dataminers had found back in December.
After the eulogy, players received an exotic weapon core “Chronomatic Weapon Core”.
This weapon core is required for the new Exotic “Bastion”. According to the roadmap, the exotic fusion rifle was supposed to arrive in Destiny 2 on January 28. The quest sends Guardians to Saint-14. The first player has already solved the quest and now has Bastion in Destiny 2.
What you need to do for the Exotic Bastion can be found in this article:
How is this received? This is actually the reward that could be expected. We speculated about the core for Bastion at MeinMMO. Some players had imagined that there would be a new, yet unknown exotic weapon. Some were hoping for the Vex Mythoclast.
Bastion was already known through datamining and the roadmap. Therefore, this is a bit disappointing, but generally, participants feel relieved that the puzzle is solved and that they accomplished it as a community.
