Ubisoft has released the major expansion Marching Fire for the online action game For Honor and showcases a launch trailer. However, players are expressing a lot of criticism.
Marching Fire brings a number of changes to For Honor: including a new perk system, new heroes and game modes, and improved graphics. However, Ubisoft has apparently not made the players happy with these adjustments.
The trailer sets the stage for battles
What does the trailer show? The launch trailer is meant to entice you to play the new expansion Marching Fire. It primarily showcases the four new heroes of the Wu-Lin faction and, of course, spectacular battles.
Many innovations
What does Marching Fire bring? The expansion is available as a free update for owners of the base game, but also as a paid expansion for 30 euros and includes accordingly different content.
- The Wu-Lin faction with the new heroes Shaolin, Tiandi, Jiang Jun, Nuxia – these are immediately unlocked in the paid expansion and can later be unlocked as well.
- The game mode “Storm” with siege battles is included in both the free and paid versions of Marching Fire.
- A revision of the perk system is included in both the free update version and the expansion.
- The Arcade mode with endless battles that you can play solo or cooperatively with a friend is only part of the expansion that you need to purchase.
- Graphical improvements such as more detailed textures and a new lighting system are part of both versions of Marching Fire.
Fans express criticism
How are fans reacting? Marching Fire is currently generating quite a bit of criticism. Both in the official forum and over Steam, there is intense discussion about the changes. A significant portion of the reviews on Steam has been negative since the release of the update.
- One point of criticism is the perk system. Player Salthas writes in the official forum: “This is, in my opinion, the dumbest thing that has ever happened in this game. I had killer characters built, for which I spent a lot of steel. My sweat, my blood, and my tears flowed into my gear, and now everything has been replaced by a bad perk system?”
- The arcade mode is described as “okay” but still has some bugs.
- The new graphics are another point of criticism. The new textures and lighting supposedly strain the eyes more. Xythazar comments on Steam: “The new graphics are really poor, as if the gamma is set far too high!”
- The storm mode is well-received, although it takes a lot of time to capture the castles. A Steam user named Egyptian Bagel comments: “Storm is great, but it takes about the time that a real war would take.”
- The new heroes are generally well received, although some balancing still needs to be adjusted. For instance, Steam user ふわふわの死 writes: “Jiang is trash high HP. attacks faster than the Highlander. Ignores the entire stamina system by regenerating it when “standing still for a second and channeling inner strength.” He also runs faster than most other heroes!”
In general, the opinion is that Ubisoft still has quite a bit to adjust with Marching Fire. However, once that is done, the update or expansion could become really good.
