How does the gamescom 2021 take place? Last year, the gamescom 2020 was a purely digital event. This decision was made due to the Corona pandemic.
In 2021, the organizers have now announced that the gamescom 2021 will take place as a purely digital event. This also rules out the idea of a hybrid model at gamescom, which was still under discussion in early March.
In a statement, it was explained that the partners of gamescom primarily wish for planning security for their events. For this reason, they decided to make the event purely digital.
When does gamescom 2021 take place? The gamescom is divided into several sections this year:
- On Monday, August 23, 2021, gamescom starts with devcom. Here, developers discuss with each other.
- On Wednesday, August 25, the Opening Night marks the opening of gamescom.
- The so-called core days are from August 25 to August 27, 2021. Some events will also take place over the weekend (August 28 and 29).
Where does gamescom 2021 take place? The gamescom 2021 will only take place in digital form. Events or gatherings in Cologne are not planned.
Instead, you can look forward to various streams. Here, developers will present announcements and new games to you.
What will gamescom cost? The gamescom is available for all fans and interested parties free of charge. Like last year, you can experience gamescom and all events through the official portal “gamescom now” and watch streams or meet developers digitally there.
What events are planned? You can expect several show formats at gamescom 2021 that will be produced. Among others:
- The Opening Night Live for the opening will again be produced by Geoff Keighley, as in 2020.
- gamescom: Awesome Indies by IGN will also be back in 2021.
- Also, Arena Booth Online, the interactive game of gamescom now, is expected to be included again. You will probably have the opportunity to visit us at gamescom 2021.
