The action online game Warframe is coming to the Nintendo Switch. This was just announced at TennoCon 2018. However, it is still unknown when the release of Warframe for the Switch will be.
The next platform: Warframe was released on March 25, 2013, for PC. It came to PlayStation 4 on November 29, 2013, and on September 2, 2014, it was released for Xbox One. Now the developer Digital Extremes has announced that Warframe is coming to the Nintendo Switch. This fits quite well, as Warframe is currently more popular than ever with the new update “Sacrifice”.
Warframe as a “slow burn”: Warframe is a phenomenon among online games. In 2013, the developer studio “Digital Extremes” was struggling and launched Warframe as a last-ditch effort. However, each year it seems the game is being received better by fans. They especially praise the familial and open relationship between players and developers. Since Warframe took the step into the “open world” at TennoCon 2017 with “Plains of Eidolon”, the flight of the space ninjas has gained further height.
Experienced Switch studio behind the port
Port has been outsourced: The studio “Panic Button” is responsible for the Switch port. They have successfully brought several games to the Switch, including “Rocket League.” A first trailer can be seen embedded above.
This comes as quite a surprise: Unlike other games like Fortnite, hardly anyone expected such a port for Warframe. Only a few fans had timidly expressed hopes. However, the developers of Warframe had already left the door open in April 2018 to consider such a port. The Switch currently still doesn’t have many online titles. But there will be more.
When is the release of Warframe for the Nintendo Switch? This is currently still unknown. However, the game will be free-to-play.
