PUBG can be downloaded and played for free. This is possible with PUBG Lite, a stripped-down version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. We will show you everything you need to know about the Lite version.
What is new? Since October 10, 2019, you can now download PUBG in Germany. The open beta has been expanded, and the game is available for download. Initially, PUBG Lite was only available for players in Thailand.
What is special about PUBG Lite? With this Lite version of the battle royale, the developers primarily target those who own low-end PCs. For this, the minimum and recommended settings have been greatly reduced.
Another special feature is the absence of a purchase price. The Lite version is free and can be easily transferred to your home computer. So if you are still undecided about buying the game, you can use the Lite version to get a rough idea of the game.
What content is available in PUBG Lite?

Initially, there will only be the Erangel map. This is the first map that PUBG started with. It recently received a significant update in the ‘full’ version.
You will find the following game modes in PUBG Lite:
- Solo
- Duo
- Squad
All of these will be played in the TPP mode. Additionally, 4v4s are being tested, along with a training mode and custom matches.
Also new is the in-game currency, which differs from the main game. You can earn Chicken Medals, which can be exchanged for loot boxes. You receive the medals through daily login bonuses, challenges, the Lite Pass, weekend events, community events, and through crates purchased with BP.
Another currency is Silver Bullets. You earn these by dismantling skins. In the game, there is a Silver Bullet store where you can use this currency to buy items.
Battle Pass: You will find the so-called “Lite Pass” in the game, which is available in standard and premium versions. You will be rewarded for leveling up according to the usual principles. Rewards include vehicle and character skins, BP, Chicken Medals, experience points, and more.

- Start the download and then install the launcher on your PC
- Log in now with your PUBG Lite account or create a new one
- Once you are logged in, you can choose “Install” in the launcher and the game will begin downloading
- The download size is approximately 2.7 GB
