The free tank MMO World of Tanks can now also be played on Xbox Series X and PS5. And fans are really responding positively to this.
How do you play WoT on PS5 and Xbox Series X? Wargaming explained that you can now download World of Tanks for free on your PS5 and Xbox Series X. This makes the “hobby for men”, as the Wargaming CEO called it in an interview, easily playable on the next-gen consoles thanks to backward compatibility.
What are the differences to PS4 and Xbox One? World of Tanks did not receive an extremely extensive next-gen upgrade from Wargaming, but still benefits from the higher performance of the new consoles. Improvements include:
- Shorter loading times
- 4K support
- 60 fps
World of Tanks runs more smoothly on PS5 and Xbox Series X
What does it look like? Based on initial videos recorded by WoT players, you can see how well the MMO translates on the new consoles.

It is great to see how detailed and sharp the graphics look due to the 4K resolution. And thanks to 60 fps, the battles play out smoothly.

What do players think of WoT on PS5 and Xbox Series X? There aren’t too many voices yet, as the version has only officially been available since yesterday, November 18th. However, we present a few voices from the community:
- esctab1982 writes on reddit: “In short, compared to the PS4 Pro, the WoT gaming experience on PS5 is like night and day!”
- 4 the fun of it comments on YouTube regarding the 60 fps on Xbox Series X: “I personally feel that it provides a better gaming experience, especially since I was used to playing at 30 fps on Xbox One X.”
- Jonny Era states: “You can see how smoothly the game runs at 60 frames. It’s much smoother than on my PS4 Pro.”
World of Tanks is currently being well received on the next-gen consoles. Whether a larger update will come that may bring ray tracing lighting and other graphical improvements is not yet known.
