How long will the Chivalry 2 beta run? The open beta for Chivalry 2 started on May 27 and is currently scheduled to run until June 1 at 5:00 PM. You can download it for free. The beta is available for PC (via the Epic Games Store), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S, and it features crossplay. For consoles, you’ll need a corresponding online membership to participate in the beta.
So there are only a few days left until the beta test ends. This is the last chance to try Chivalry 2 for free before it is fully released on June 8. And this opportunity should be taken if you have a penchant for exciting knightly battles – as even in the beta, you get a comprehensive impression of Chivalry 2.
A wild slaughter where just swinging won’t suffice
What’s in the beta: In this open test, you can try various battles. Among other things, you can test matches with up to 64 players like “The Siege of Rudhelm,” where you try to capture a fortress using siege towers – or indeed, try to prevent that if you’re on the other side.
There are also different deathmatches, such as a huge brawl in a classic medieval tournament arena. Full matches quickly escalate into a proper brawl, and you have to be careful who you’re currently assaulting with the halberd.
Moreover, you shouldn’t lose sight of your surroundings. Because when you’re right in the middle of a gripping duel against an opponent, it can happen that a crafty swordsman suddenly comes from the side and ends your knight’s life with a swift blow.
Additionally, there are archers or crazy fighters who simply throw their weapons directly at you. Here too, it’s essential to keep your eyes peeled for incoming deadly projectiles.
The battles in Chivalry 2 require a lot of attention and concentration, but they are not unfair – when you die, you usually know why. At the same time, they come with impressive visuals and a touch of humor, which is hidden in the partially crazy voice commands of your knights. And when you just died, but immediately charge back into battle with a battle cry and three fellow warriors at your side, it’s quite motivating.
Where to start: It’s definitely advisable to play through the comprehensive tutorial for Chivalry 2. Here you learn the complex combat system from the ground up. Because: Just swinging won’t be enough in battle. Victory or defeat in duels depends on the right timing, well-chosen range, the correct strike, and skillful counters.
In the tutorial, you’ll learn everything: how to link a thrust to an overhead strike, how feints work, and how to turn during the strike so that you interrupt the opponent’s blow. It initially seems complicated, but it quickly becomes second nature – and then nothing stands in the way of a successful fight.
