In the news feed of Fortnite: Battle Royale, a new item has appeared that constructs a fort instantly upon impact. How will the Port-a-Fort work? We dare to take a look.
Epic continues to bring new items to Fortnite: Battle Royale: On Thursday, April 12, the Port-a-Fort is expected to be released – an item that, according to the description, creates cover upon impact.
But how will the Port-a-Fort function? We speculate and explain why this item needed to be introduced now!
This is how the Port-a-Fort will work!
According to the description in the game itself, the Port-a-Fort is a grenade. It will be stored in the inventory as usual. If you’re already feeling anxious about which items to carry, it won’t get any easier in the future.

It’s also exciting to question what kind of construction the Port-a-Fort will generate upon impact. Just a wall? Or actually a cube made up of a floor, walls, and a ceiling? I suspect the latter, which would allow for interesting applications.
It’s unclear what material the Port-a-Fort is made of. Wood, metal, or stone? Or even something entirely different? The symbol of the grenade suggests metal, which is the strongest building material.
This is how the Port-a-Fort could be used
If the Port-a-Fort truly offers all-around protection, it is the perfect counter against guided missiles (at least as often as you have Port-a-Forts without needing to build). Even under fire, the Port-a-Fort can quickly create cover that shields you at least briefly from enemy attacks.

Depending on the speed of the Port-a-Fort, you can even use the grenade offensively. Your opponent has two rocket launchers and is firing rockets at you? A well-placed Port-a-Fort could ensure that the opponent blows themselves up as they now have a wall in front of their face.
Why the Port-a-Fort had to come now!
The fact that the Port-a-Fort is being released now is no coincidence. Epic is reacting to current events and player preferences. Due to the improved initial accuracy of weapons, players may be at a disadvantage if they are shot at from ambush.
If you are inexperienced with the building mode, you will likely have no chance in such situations. The Port-a-Fort can help here. It is, therefore, a direct response to the previously changed weapon balance.

But the guided missile also causes quite a stir. Especially in team modes, it is perceived as overpowered. The Port-a-Fort is likely to be THE counter against the rocket launcher, at least for players who do not master the building mode perfectly.
Players who have internalized the building mode and can quickly erect entire forts will find little use for the Port-a-Fort. However, those who still struggle with the building processes may find happiness with the Port-a-Fort.
What do you think about the Port-a-Fort? A worthwhile addition or unnecessary?
