For a long time, the Twitch ban of Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm has been a major mystery. Following allegations against the streamer, his gaming studio, Midnight Society, is now parting ways with him. The Doc announced an indefinite break from streaming.
Update 26.06.2024: There is now a detailed statement from DrDisrespect in which he admits that there was inappropriate contact with a minor. Friends and business partners subsequently distanced themselves from the streamer.
What is the situation around DrDisrespect? Once, the streamer was one of the biggest stars on Twitch, calling himself the face of the streaming platform. However, in June 2020, DrDisrespect was permanently banned without any apparent reason.
For four years, the ban raised questions until a former Twitch employee seemingly revealed the alleged true reason on June 22, 2024, without any particular cause: The Doc is said to have exchanged inappropriate messages with a minor and attempted to meet her at TwitchCon.
DrDisrespect responded to the allegations rather curtly: The matter has been settled, and “no wrongdoing has been admitted”. Now Midnight Society, the “AAA studio” that the streamer founded in 2021 to compete with CoD and Apex Legends, is stepping in.
Studio says it believed in DrDisrespect’s innocence
What is the current development? In a post from June 24, 2024, the studio announced on X, formerly Twitter, that it was ending its collaboration with co-founder DrDisrespect. They had learned about the allegations against the streamer the previous Friday and had assumed his innocence.
However, they then spoke with the “involved parties”. To uphold the principles and standards of the studio and the people who work there, they are parting ways with the Doc.
Furthermore, it states: “Although it is difficult to hear these facts and even harder to accept them, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all involved, especially in the name of the 55 developers and families we have employed along with our gaming community.”
News apparently catches DrDisrespect off guard
The news seemed to reach DrDisrespect while he was in the middle of a stream for Elden Ring. The streamer had just defeated a boss and appeared to be in a good mood. During the loading screen for fast travel, he seemingly looked at his phone, and his mood changed abruptly.

DrDisrespect announces unlimited streaming break
What does DrDisrespect say? Following the scene, the streamer announced that he was tired of social media and felt burnt out. Fifteen years ago, when he started, it was a different scene: They had a great time and played fun games.
DrDisrespect says he had in any case planned a break from streaming in the near future – now he wants to bring that break forward, effective immediately. Whether and when the Doc will return from this “vacation” is still uncertain (via X).
With “Deadrop”, DrDisrespect aimed to create a shooter similar to those that made him famous – only better. The streamer has so far been the face of the project. Fans are now worried about the future of the shooter. DrDisrespect shows 1st gameplay of his AAA shooter – promises “new era of competitive multiplayer”.
