The early access phase of The Elder Scrolls: Blades has started. While some chosen ones can already play, the majority still has to wait. However, there are already first reactions to Bethesda’s new mobile game.
When did the early access phase of The Elder Scrolls: Blades start? Since today, participants can download the role-playing game for iOS and Android and can even play for a few seconds. After the intro, which brings more of the background story, a fight against a Thalmor elf is next.
Afterwards, most are reading that they will be contacted as soon as they can really get started. When the version for PC, PS4, and Xbox One will be released is unclear.

The first reactions are here
Are there already people who can really play? Yes, some fans actually already have access to the game. For example, on Reddit, these players are exchanging experiences with each other.
How do the first reactions turn out? Basically, the graphics are praised and it is fun, but the performance is said to be not particularly good even on current smartphones. And the timers during loot cause many concerns.
These things are praised:
- The game looks beautiful.
- Character creation is well received.
- The transition between portrait and landscape mode is smooth.
- The game has been varied so far, and there is a lot to do. Especially the endless dungeon is praised.
- The skill tree is somewhat reminiscent of Diablo 2.
- The reconstruction of the city is fun and allows for many possibilities.
- The hint system prevents you from getting stuck in the game progression.

What is still criticized:
- Even on current smartphones like a Huawei Mate 20 Pro, the game stutters.
- The loot system doesn’t work well due to a timer on the chests. Always having to wait to open new chests with loot is demotivating.
- Generally, the many timers are annoying.
- You can’t really move freely and feel a bit like on rails.
- The game seems very focused on microtransactions.
Welcome to the world of microtransactions
What do the players think? In discussions, the timer system is repeatedly mentioned, which is probably one of the biggest negatives.
- SecAdept writes on Reddit: “Welcome to the world of microtransactions. I don’t like them. But the rest of the game is fun.”
- skippy1300 says: “The timers are crap. I’m a bit surprised they implemented something like this after being against this concept in Fallout Shelter.”
What do those have to say who can’t play yet? So far, only a few are allowed to play The Elder Scrolls: Blades. The others are waiting to be selected as well and are making a little fun of the situation:
- thejslewis jokes: “This new The Elder Scrolls music app is great!”
- drewbotic says: “The biggest tease in the history of gaming.”
How about you? Can you already play The Elder Scrolls: Blades?
