The First Descendant just has an extremely profitable gold farm. The players thought they could keep it. Were they mistaken?
What is this loot cave? The players of The First Descendant have discovered a spot where they can farm up to 10 million gold in an hour. They use the descendant “Valby,” which is why the farming method is also called “Valby Run.”
The cave is located in the area “Fortress” and is within a hostile outpost. This is called “The Defense Line: strategic outpost of the Vulgus.” There you run in circles with Valby and eliminate repeatedly spawning mobs that drop tons of gold.
Too Early to Celebrate: Developers Correct Statement
What was the original statement from the developers? The developers of The First Descendant commented on the “Valby Run.” This had not been planned in its current form, as the mobs respawn infinitely and without cooldown, resulting in a significantly too high item drop.
In the first statement, the developers also fueled hope that the farm spot would not be nerfed. They wrote:
The current issue has clearly arisen from our own mistake, but we do not want to suddenly remove it. Because it has already become a fixed part of TFD. Therefore, we would like to inform you that we are preparing a patch that will not completely resolve the issue of the fortress outpost and still allow players to play as before. At the same time, we will update other farming locations to achieve the efficiency of the fortress outpost.

The community of The First Descendant celebrated the developers for this statement, as they thought: The Valby Run stays as it is, and other farm spots will be elevated to the same level.
However, Nexon realized that they had expressed themselves somewhat incorrectly and corrected their statements regarding the Valby Run in a second statement.
What will happen to the loot cave? On the official Discord server of The First Descendant, the developers correct their original statement and write: “We are preparing patch 1.0.4 to align the farming efficiency of the fortress outpost with the other popular farming positions.”
So, contrary to initial assumptions, other farming spots will not be adjusted to the high level of the fortress outpost, but the fortress outpost will be lowered to the level of the other farming spots.
However, the developers did not just change their minds. Instead, it is said that the original Korean text from Nexon was misinterpreted during the translation into English (via Discord).
Running in circles with Valby and cashing in
How does the gold farm work? You start the outpost mission normally and first destroy the generators. Then, you activate Valby’s third ability “Laundry” and run in circles in the outer ring of the outpost. Important: Leave the boss that spawns in the middle of the outpost alone.
With the Laundry ability, Valby’s body liquefies, which increases your movement speed and her defense. She also leaves a water path that continuously deals damage to enemies standing in the water. You now automatically eliminate the spawning enemies using the water path without shooting yourself.
Theoretically, the run can also be done with Bunny, but she also deals damage to the boss. If the boss is accidentally defeated and the outpost is successfully completed, you will have a cooldown. Instead, you want to run in circles with Valby until the mission fails and then immediately restart.
