The First Descendant: Tier List – All Classes in the Ranking

The First Descendant: Tier List – All Classes in the Ranking

In The First Descendant, you can unlock 14 different characters, each with unique strengths and playstyles. We have ranked the 14 Descendants in a tier list to give you an idea of which classes are the best.

How was this tier list created? We have checked various sources and constructed the tier list to best reflect the current perception of the individual Descendants within the community. We have also not yet been able to test all the Descendants ourselves and are still in the process of earning them. Therefore, the tier list is still a work in progress and may be adjusted in the future. If you have suggestions for improvement or just want to share your own tier list, feel free to leave comments!

What criteria did we use for ranking? There are different topics for which tier lists can be created in The First Descendant – for example, based on suitability for farming or boss fights. However, we have tried to create a fairly general tier list. So, a ranking that primarily helps you get an overview at the beginning of the game.

The First Descendant: Tier List for all classes

You can conveniently view our tier list with all classes of The First Descendant in the screenshot. Below the screenshot, there is a breakdown of why we chose a rank for the various Descendants.

The First Descendant Classes Tier List

S-Tier: The currently best Descendants

Gley: Currently, Gley has the so-called “Infinite-Ammo-Build,” which allows you to shoot infinitely. With this, Gley can defeat bosses extremely quickly and is currently considered possibly the best class for boss fights – at least until players find similarly strong builds for other classes.

Valby: Valby is really good at dealing area damage. She is also quite nimble when she increases her movement speed with her ability “Laundry.” This same ability also boosts Valby’s defense, which is why many players find her stronger than Bunny.

Ajax: Ajax is currently the preferred tank for many. His shields are extremely useful and give you a moment to breathe and regenerate health points even in boss fights.

A-Tier: These Descendants are always a good choice

Freyna: Many players agree that Freyna is among the strongest damage dealers. She deals damage over time (DoT) with her poison attacks, with individual damage ticks potentially causing several hundred thousand damage in the right builds. While the damage over time effects are active, she can still use weapons and deal additional damage.

Bunny: The sprinter Bunny is not only very fast, but she is also quite strong in defeating mobs (small enemies). With her abilities, she can take them out by running past them. However, due to her low defensive stats and lack of ability to boost her defense, she only qualifies for A-Tier.

Yujin: With Yujin, The First Descendant has a classic healer. You won’t be able to solo bosses with him, but if your group struggles to survive in boss fights, a good Yujin can be the decisive factor.

Lepic: Lepic is an all-rounder and performs really solidly in various areas. He can cause good damage against bosses – although there are better Descendants for that – and is similarly good at quickly/effectively taking out groups of enemies. If you also have Ultimate Lepic, he becomes even stronger.

Enzo: Enzo currently falls somewhere between the different tiers for many players. His own damage output could certainly be higher, but his supportive abilities are invaluable. Especially in a team, he can be a tremendous help by supplying unlimited ammunition to all fighters through his ammunition delivery. However, he earns his A-rank with us due to his passive ability: With Enzo, you can much more easily open encrypted vaults.

B-Tier: These are Descendants that have the potential for higher ranks

Kyle: Kyle has the potential to be one of the strongest Descendants. However, when choosing which tank to play, many players currently opt for Ajax. Not only is he a starting character, but his shields also provide better protection and act more like a classic tank. However, some players are already convinced: Kyle is a real machine and belongs in higher tiers. We will, however, wait until he has been able to demonstrate his strength among the broader player base.

Sharen: Sharen fluctuates between “absolutely insane” and “too weak” in the various community tier lists. The consensus often is: Once you understand how to play the assassin best, she is very strong. However, she is not suitable for solo players, as she deals more damage when she is not the target of her enemies – which is rarely the case when playing solo. Therefore, we initially rate Sharen as a potentially improvable B-Tier, as she is a complicated Descendant not suitable for every player.

C-Tier: These are the Descendants currently considered somewhat weaker

Blair: Similar to Freyna, Blair deals damage over time. However, the poison expert is currently preferred by many players. The fire devil of The First Descendant seems to be somewhat weaker and thus occupies a rather low place in the ranking for now.

Viessa: Viessa is good for crowd control with her ice abilities, but her damage leaves something to be desired. Currently, it seems that Viessa is neither as helpful in supporting her allies as Yujin or Enzo, nor is she as capable of dealing damage as Gley, Freyna, or Bunny.

Jayber: Jayber has a very passive playstyle, as he primarily deals damage and healing through turrets – which of course limits his mobility somewhat. There are both healers and damage dealers who fulfill both roles better and thus make more sense in teams. However, if you play solo, Jayber is a good choice because your turrets provide passive support.

Esiemo: Esiemo is also currently outperformed in many tier lists by other damage dealers, with Lepic often coming out on top in direct comparisons with his grenades.

Note: The balancing of The First Descendant seems very good at the moment. There are indeed players who say all classes are roughly equally strong and simply cater to different playstyles. So, when choose your Descendant, don’t rely solely on tier lists, but choose what best fits your playstyle and what you enjoy.
