The Finals has already convinced a massive number of players during the open beta. Now the PvP shooter surprisingly celebrates its release.
What new information has been announced for the release? As Embark Studios announced at the Game Awards 2023, the first-person shooter The Finals is now available to play on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Thus, not only does The Finals unexpectedly celebrate its release, but it also launches into its first season, which brings new content.
What kind of game is this? The Finals is a new PvP shooter produced by the Swedish developer “Embark Studios”. The game places you in a virtual arena where you fight for victory in a game show in three-person teams.
There are various modes, including the option to play ranked matches. In the individual modes, your goal is to collect more money than your opponents. In ranked, there are also slightly adjusted rules, such as a limited number of respawns and one more team.
Furthermore, ranked matches can be played in tournaments. This means that once the first round is over, the teams with the fewest points are eliminated and must find a new match.
Unique destruction of the map with fun gunplay
What makes The Finals so good? The Finals is particularly characterized by the incredible destructibility of the map. In general, the destruction of the maps is an important element that also has a tactical utility.
In line with this, various weapons, abilities, and gadgets such as sledgehammers, grappling hooks, grenades, and mines are available, from which you can assemble your loadout based on your class.
Those who do not want to engage in pure destruction can sneak up on their opponents with a katana or a dagger and eliminate them in close combat. Overall, The Finals succeeds in impressing shooter fans with interesting gadgets, fun gunplay, and fluid movement.

The Finals receives new content with Season 1
What has changed since the beta? Just in November, an open beta for The Finals took place, which was very well received by many players, although there were still some minor issues. Accordingly, for the full release, the developers made some changes and added new content to the game.
New is, among other things, the map Las Vegas, which takes you to a version of the eponymous gambling metropolis and is therefore equipped with slot machines and billboards.
Additionally, there is a new gadget: the cloaking bomb. This is a type of grenade for the light class that you can throw on yourself and your teammates, which then makes you temporarily invisible.
A third innovation is the so-called companions. These are small animals like a cat or a raven that sit on your shoulder in the game. However, the companions do not serve a special purpose; they are purely cosmetic.
Additionally, there were some adjustments to the weapon balancing. In a testing session that we were able to participate in just before the release, for example, the silenced pistol of the light class and the AK of the medium class felt somewhat weaker than in the open beta.
Does The Finals have SBMM? Yes, as the developers revealed to us in the interview, The Finals features skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) in every mode. However, this is said to be more relaxed than in other games.
E-sports for The Finals possible, but no fixed goal
What is the situation regarding e-sports for The Finals? MeinMMO editor Dariusz Müller also discussed a possible e-sports scene for the shooter in an interview with the developers of The Finals.
They never aimed to make The Finals an e-sports game. The main idea was to create a multiplayer game whose core is fun.
Nevertheless, the developers are open to the idea of a “The Finals” e-sport, and if they determine that players want it, they will see if and how they can support it.
We are open to this kind of idea, but that was not the main goal in the development of the game. What we wanted more than anything else was to create a truly fun, competitive multiplayer game that people can enjoy from casual play to a competitive environment.
What are the future plans for The Finals? As the developers revealed to us in the interview, they plan to release new content with each upcoming season.
Possible content that may come includes new weapons, gadgets, abilities, maps, or new modes. A classic PvE mode is currently not planned, as the team focuses on PvP.
