Just a few hours after the release of WoW Dragonflight, the first players reached the new maximum level 70. One of their tricks for achieving this so quickly: Crafting. The revamped professions in the expansion are definitely worth it.
Who is the player? Gingi is a professional player who plays for Echo, one of the best WoW guilds in the world. Echo achieved about the World First Kill in the last raid in Shadowlands. Gingi is also a multiple world champion in the Mythic Dungeon International.
The pro reached level 70 in just about 1.5 hours, as seen on his stream (via Twitch.tv). So far, no player is known to have been faster. However, Gingi was not the first, as release issues made it difficult for the player.
Almost 2.5 hours after release, the first player reached level 70, after Gingi had to deal with loading screens and missing boats. The moment when Gingi reaches level 70 is quite curious, though.
This is how Gingi reached level 70: Most of the time, Gingi plays in a group with his druid and two others. The class is incredibly fast when traveling, giving him an advantage. Plus, the group almost exclusively completes campaign quests for leveling to progress quickly.
Gingi and his group level with big pulls and some tips that we explain in more detail in our leveling guide, including the powerful guild banners. However, he gains his last experience points through crafting.
As seen in the clip, Gingi crafts several items in succession using leatherworking. The last item is a “Reinforced Covenant Cap,” a chain headpiece. This item pushes him to level 70:
Professions as a Leveling Method – How does it work?
Professions have undergone a major overhaul in Dragonflight. You can now choose specializations and allocate talent points to define your focus in crafting more precisely.
The best new feature for leveling is that you get a big chunk of experience when you craft an item for the first time or gather a resource for the first time. Gingi is taking advantage of this.
He crafts equipment sequentially, but always only one item at a time to gain the XP boost. You receive less XP per item than for a quest, but the items can be crafted much faster, especially if you can simply buy the materials from the auction house.

Gingi went straight on to the next characters to level these as well – first a hunter, then a mage. For all of them, he used the profession trick to secure experience points quickly and easily.
