The growing popularity of the video game Fortnite has now attracted the controversial YouTuber Logan Paul and his brother Jake to Twitch. Logan’s channel already has 230,000 subscribers, but he hasn’t streamed yet. They are not considered gamers. It’s all about the size of the game.
YouTuber Logan Paul has been involved in some controversies recently. His type of YouTube content is repulsive to some. He wandered through Japan and made fun of the culture there. When he made a suicide victim’s corpse the theme of a video, it went too far for some.
Many find the way he operates his channel distasteful.
Logan Paul has now announced that he will turn to Twitch and gaming. He makes no secret of why he is now interested in Fortnite: Because it is so big and promises so much attention.
His stated goal is to stream Fortnite with rap star Drake. Last week, the well-known Fortnite streamer Ninja managed to do that, a passionate gamer. 600,000 watched, a Twitch record.
Although Logan Paul has not done anything on Twitch yet, 230,000 already follow his channel.
The community on Twitch is divided in its reaction.
- Some say Twitch is not the place for them. After all, the brothers also bring a community with them that prefers to draw penises in chats.
- Others like the streamer summit1g express positive opinions. If they bring so many users from YouTube to Twitch, it’s ultimately good for the platform.
Jake Paul immediately has trouble with Twitch streamer Ninja
Paul’s brother Jake Paul also wants to act like a gamer now. With his first video “I’m donating 200k to my favorite streamer” he immediately got into trouble. Because he used a picture of Ninja as a thumbnail (title image)
But the video itself is not about Ninja at all; instead, it shows an older “prank” with other streamers to whom he supposedly donates money. These are his colleagues from Team 10.
Twitch streamer Ninja does not find this very funny. As the US site Kotaku reports, Ninja is having all mentions of “Paul” removed from his channel. Ninja has distanced himself from Paul, calling him this “famous John Smith,” who is using his face for clickbait despite being rich enough not to need to.
The thumbnail has presumably been changed now after there were some negative reactions to the video.
