Since yesterday, an event is ongoing in Borderlands 3 that provides players with more Eridium. However, it is not being received well.
This is what the event is about: The event week “Show me the Eridium” started on Tuesday and focuses on the purple element Eridium.
Eridium acts as a rare currency in Borderlands 3, primarily obtained through mining crystals. It can also be found in chests, lockers, and dropped by some strong enemies. In this event, the Eridium drop rate has been increased. You can also receive it from standard enemies.

Players disappointed with the event
Eridium is needed for: “More Eridium” initially sounds good. With this element, you can purchase cosmetics from Crazy Earl or buy anointed weapons. It is also used in some slot machines and as ammunition for the Gun-Gun.
Why the event is not well-received: Nevertheless, players do not seem to warm up to the new event week. Previous events focused on enemies:
- The Boss Week improved loot.
- The “Rare Spawn Hunt” brought rare enemies.
The Eridium event, however, brings a currency that many players already seem to have hoarded in large quantities. They have already bought all the interesting items, leaving little use for the extra Eridium.
This is what players say: On reddit, for example, user Terachos writes: “I start the event already sold out. I don’t know what to look forward to.”
Background: Anyone who has already purchased all cosmetics from Earl cannot spend their Eridium there anymore. On top of that, not every player finds all cosmetics particularly appealing.
Especially players who have already completed the game are a bit puzzled about what the event is good for. Even Earl’s anointed weapons cannot compete with the weapons that you are already collecting: “This event would be much better if Crazy Earl sold anointed legendary weapons,” says user Doidlewok.
Additionally, some players wished that the old events would simply remain active while the new ones are added. Thus, the Eridium week is perceived as somewhat disappointing.
Is the event worth it in the end? The Eridium week struggles mainly because many players are not interested in the other purchasable items. However, some hope that the additional Eridium will still become useful.
Because: The Halloween event “Bloody Harvest” starts at the end of October. Now, players hope that there will be new cosmetics that can be obtained from Earl. They also expect new items at other times, such as Christmas.
In that case, it might be worthwhile to farm as much Eridium as possible now and spend it later.
What is certain is that there will be new content for Borderlands 3 in the future, and a new patch is likely coming soon:
