What is the situation with The Elder Scrolls Online two days after the launch of the new chapter Summerset on PC? And why are the servers currently down? A look into the ESO community.
Reddit is raving: The subreddits of individual MMORPGs each have their own character. While some games’ forums have turned into a desert, Reddit users are currently loving their The Elder Scrolls Online. Two days after the PC launch of Summerset, you can see threads like in the ESO Subreddit:
- I can’t handle how beautiful Summerset is, I think I’ll stay here
I can’t get over how gorgeous Summerset is. I think I’ll stay a while from r/elderscrollsonline
- All this chatter about the great visuals, let’s praise the audio!
- They did a great job with the atmosphere in this DLC
They really did a great job with the atmosphere in this DLC. from r/elderscrollsonline
Someone also praises that NPCs react to the player character in dialogue, as Razum-dar asserts: “Some of the best friends of this are lizards.”
Users are posting screenshots of landscapes and special views. The mood on Reddit is cheerful after the release in 2018.
Better mood than a year ago after Morrowind
It wasn’t always like this: A year ago with Morrowind, Reddit had viewed the chapter more critically:
- Back then, many were annoyed that Morrowind had to be purchased separately; otherwise, as a subscriber, you simply received content – this is still the case with Summerset, but seemingly bothers few, they have gotten used to it
- Also, that Morrowind offered less content than the flagship DLC “Orsinium” annoyed many back then.
- And there were problems because a new class came with Morrowind. Players felt that ESO nerfed the existing classes to make the new class more “desirable”. This also annoyed some back then. One of the most important YouTubers of ESO, Deltia’s Gaming, withdrew from the game. However, he is back now.
With Summerset, the mood seems to be significantly more positive without such backlash.
Fans love the Elven island
Classic fantasy setting: After the volcanic island of Morrowind, Summerset is now a classic fantasy setting on a picturesque island. Such a “high-fantasy” setting seems to resonate well with the players of The Elder Scrolls Online.
So is everything great? Not entirely; some players in the ESO forum are complaining about login issues. Some cannot get into the game at all. Zenimax has already announced that they are working on it.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Servers currently offline for maintenance
Maintenance today: At 10:00 AM on Wednesday, the servers will be taken down for maintenance. Apparently, several minor issues are to be resolved. This is causing some frustration: “What is with the stupid maintenance?” asks a forum thread. Players seemingly do not want to be without their The Elder Scrolls Online right now: A good sign.
What are your first reactions to Summerset?
