What fascinates players about the Summerset Isles? The isles offer a strong contrast to Vvardenfell, the area of the last expansion Morrowind. Instead of gloomy volcanic landscapes with towering mushrooms, you can expect a blooming, beautiful, and green landscape that seems to have sprung from a fairy tale. However, appearances can be deceiving, as something sinister brews beneath the beautiful facade.
The Summerset Isles already played an important role in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim: The radical faction of the Thalmor elves managed to seize control of the Summerset Isles through propaganda after the Oblivion Crisis in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. This led to the establishment of the Third Aldmeri Dominion, which even briefly succeeded in capturing the Imperial City during the Great War. A peace treaty eventually came about, yet the aftereffects of this war and the presence of the Thalmor in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim are still felt.
Players are now looking forward to visiting Summerset, even if this visit takes place several hundred years before the events in Skyrim. Because the land of the High Elves is very interesting, and you can learn more about the culture and the background that will eventually lead to the events of Skyrim.
The Altmer are a very interesting and mysterious people. Not only the landscape of the Summerset Isles but also the culture of the Altmer, also known as High Elves, fascinates players. The Altmer differ from the Dunmer of Morrowind, and fans want to learn more about the culture of these arrogant elves.
