The veteran ranks of the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online have long been a controversial feature and Zenimax Online aims to promote a standardization of game progression with their removal. With the introduction of the Champion system, another system was also introduced that defined the strength of the hero. However, since they want to standardize this now, the focus will be on the Champion system in the future.
Veteran ranks will become Champion points
The removal of veteran ranks is not supposed to affect ESO’s game flow. Therefore, the veteran ranks will be converted into Champion points using a simple formula. For each veteran rank, players will receive ten Champion points. This means that if you previously had veteran rank 5 and fought against NPCs with veteran rank 8, you will have Champion level 50 after the transition and will fight against NPCs with Champion level 80. There will be an adjustment for attribute and skill points.
For each veteran rank, you received one point, which leads to the need to convert an additional 16 attribute points and 16 skill points. This results in only getting an additional attribute and skill point every five levels and two additional points every ten levels.
The balancing will be adjusted
However, you will receive Champion points in the game much faster than veteran points – especially when the hero is refreshed, he gains experience four times as fast. Here, of course, something needs to be adjusted in the balancing, which is why the levels of monsters in some areas will be adjusted. Champion points apply to all heroes you own. So, if you create a new hero and reach level 50 with it, it can access all previously collected Champion points.
