Morrowind, the first new chapter for The Elder Scrolls Online, has been released and attracts newcomers and veterans alike to Vvardenfell. But how do you optimally start your adventure in ESO as a newcomer? 10 official tips from the developers will reveal it to you!
The Elder Scrolls Online plays a little differently than many of the usual MMOs. Therefore, new players are often confused and do not understand, for example, how to level up skills in ESO or how crafting works. And how does the combat system work and why are all NPCs suddenly chasing me?
All these things and much more are also relevant in Morrowind. And since you can play Morrowind independently from regular ESO, the developers have published a guide with 10 tips and tricks that benefit all newcomers.
ESO Morrowind – 10 tips for the ideal new start!
The following 10 pieces of advice come directly from the developers of ESO Morrowind – and they must know:
- Equip as many skills as fit in your quick slots. You only gain experience points for skills and skill lines that you actually have active in your quick slot.
- Try all weapons and armor. Only this way can you ensure that you can level the corresponding skill lines and gain the basic abilities.
- Take all additional skill points. To learn your skills, you need many skill points. Since you only get a few from level-ups, you should also use alternative sources for such points by collecting Skyshards, completing certain quests, finishing group dungeons, and increasing your alliance rank in PvP.
- Eat and drink! When your character consumes food or a drink, they receive a buff. So never play hungry!
- Craft your starting equipment yourself. Since you need many items to fully gear up, you should simply craft a basic set of armor along with weapons at the beginning of the game if you don’t find a suitable item. You do not need any additional crafting skills for that until level 14.
- Heavy attacks regenerate stamina! Contrary to the initial assumption, heavy attacks do not cost you stamina or magicka. Rather, you regain stamina through such attacks.
- Expand inventory and bank slots. At the banker (entrance to Vivec City) and at the bag merchant (Saint Olms canton in Vivec), you can increase your storage space. This is sorely needed, as you will find a lot of stuff in ESO.
- Use travel options. To reach important places, you don’t necessarily have to walk there. You can also visit places like Balmora or Sadrith Mora with certain boats or the Silt Striders.
- Break down everything you don’t need! If you find an item you don’t need, then don’t throw it away or sell it. Instead, go to a crafting station and break it down. This way, you gain valuable resources and experience points in the respective crafting profession.
- Watch where you swing your sword! In ESO, you can hit all NPCs with your attacks by default. However, this causes a disturbance and alerts the guards, who will then search for you and take a lot of money if they catch you. If you prefer not to hit innocents, turn off this option in the gameplay menu.
