The Elder Scrolls Online receives a new addon called Summerset, which offers, among other things, new skills and crafting possibilities. The abilities of the Psijic Order especially remind of Tracer from Overwatch! And we have new information about jewel crafting.
The Elder Scrolls Online offers you in the new chapter addon Summerset primarily a new area and a continuation of the story. But there is also a new skill line for all heroes and a new crafting talent. Additionally, there are some adjustments to the gameplay.
We were at an event in London hosted by Zenimax and spoke there with the developer Bobby Weir about the features of Summerset.
Skills for everyone instead of a new class
First, we wanted to know from Bobby why there isn’t a new class but “only” the new skill line of the Psijic Order. The last chapter Morrowind at least brought the Warden. According to the developer, a new class is always associated with tremendous balancing efforts. Therefore, they do not want to introduce a new character type to the game every year.
A general skill line, on the other hand, is much easier to implement and would also benefit all heroes. So you can continue to play your beloved character and equip them with new skills. Just like in a single-player game from the Elder Scrolls series, where there are no classes and you can learn everything.
11 new skills like Tracer for everyone!
The new Psijic skills offer each hero five new active skills, five passive abilities, and one ultimate. All the skills revolve around time manipulation and focus on control and tactics.
For example, you can freeze opponents in time and greatly accelerate your energy regeneration. But the best part is the ultimate ability. This is very similar to the “Time Warp” skill of the hero Tracer from Overwatch.
As in Blizzard’s hero shooter, you will be sent a few seconds back in time, switch your position, and regain lost energy. Ideal for rectifying mistakes or hard trolling opponents in PvP. Let’s hope that the skill is well-balanced.
Jewelry crafting is only available for Summerset buyers
In Summerset, there will finally also be the possibility to craft your own jewelry. The new crafting profession will run like a regular crafting. You can also disassemble, research, and upgrade the quality of jewelry. There will even be unique traits specifically for jewelry.
However, the jewelry crafting is only for paying customers. Those who do not buy Summerset cannot craft magical jewelry. The crafting stations then remain unusable. But at least there is a consolation prize. You can buy crafted jewelry from people who can make it.
So if you have a buddy in the guild or friends list, you can ask him for jewelry crafting services.
Login rewards, gifts, and minor adjustments
In addition to the major innovations, there is also a bunch of smaller things. These also come into play with Summerset. Among other things, the following is happening:
- There are some adjustments to PvP and how resources and points are earned there
- Spell weaving will definitely not come in Summerset, but it is still not off the table
- There will be daily login rewards
- You will finally be able to gift items from the real money shop
- The lovable Khajiit master spy Razum-Dar will be prominent throughout the story
- There will be no flying mounts in Summerset
Is Murkmire finally coming as the next DLC?
The Daedra story, which began years ago with Orsinium, reaches its peak and finale in Summerset. The next addon will therefore begin a new story. The new adventure zone DLC will likely have nothing to do with Summerset.
So, is the swamp region Murkmire finally coming as future DLC in 2018? The swamp has been buried in the game data since 2016 but has never been released as new content. However, according to data miners, it could be coming soon.
Here you will find all the information about The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset.
