The fantasy MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online is getting housing in the free update “Homestead.”
Zenimax has just announced how the housing will work. In February 2017 it should be ready. Then players can create their own little space in the world – or many little spaces.

The housing comes as a free update and brings cozy homes for heroes. No construction will be done by players; instead, existing apartments or houses will be purchased: 40 such homes will be available. They can be decorated with 2000 decorative items and pieces of furniture. Players should also be able to craft these with existing crafting skills or purchase them for gold or real money.
From apartment to villa
It looks like players in The Elder Scrolls Online will start with a room in an inn and later be able to acquire apartments and houses in Tamriel: from treehouses to villas. Players are not limited to one home but can own multiple. The 40 homes will all be located in the base game area – so no one needs to buy a paid DLC extra.
The homes are designed in the style of the 10 races. Basically, anyone can buy anything – except for “imperial” residences, for which you need the Imperial Edition of ESO or a corresponding upgrade.
Homes can be purchased either with gold or with crowns, the real-money currency in ESO. To buy a house with gold, certain challenges need to be completed. Such achievements can also unlock special trophies or items with which you can decorate your home.

Zenimax has also thought about personnel: The hero has space in their home for assistants, mounts, and pets. There’s even enough room for a training dummy. Scholars will be able to set up their own book collection and reading corner with books from “Shalidor’s Library.” If you find and complete a set, they can advertise the books at Mages Guild merchants.
The houses will be instanced – so anyone can own one of the 40 houses, they will not be “sold out” at some point. You can grant permission to friends and guild members to visit your house.
Mein MMO says: This sounds like a really good implementation of housing, so that it fits “organically” into the world and doesn’t feel like a foreign body. Whether it can measure up to the legendary housing of WildStar will be seen. It is still considered leading.
