The announcement of a dyeing system for costumes in the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online delighted players, but also sparked criticism.
With the upcoming DLC Shadows of the Hist, a dye system will be introduced in The Elder Scrolls Online, allowing costumes to be dyed. Many MMO fans are excited about this, as it means they can stand out even more from other players. Customization is part of an MMO; after all, you don’t want to blend in among all the other heroes and want to stand out visually.
Only those who spend money can dye costumes
The dye system announced for The Elder Scrolls Online is free for anyone with an ESO Plus membership. Players unlock achievements that provide them with various colors. At a dye station, the garment can now be dyed accordingly. It is even possible to dye a costume individually for each character on the account. For Hero A the dress is green, for Hero B it is red.
However, those who do not have an ESO Plus membership must purchase dye stamps in the Crown Store. These can be used once to dye clothing. The stamps start at prices of 50 crowns. This led to some criticism from players who find it unfair that you can only dye your costumes if you spend additional money – whether for an ESO Plus membership or for the stamps in the Crown Store. Other fans, however, say that Zenimax had to come up with something to make the ESO Plus membership more attractive; after all, the game needs some way to continue financing itself.
What do you think? Is it okay for you that dyeing costumes in the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online will incur a cost?
