The Elder Scrolls: Blades was recently announced at the E3 2018. Although the game is a mobile game, it is expected to run on other platforms thanks to crossplay, providing a whole new gaming experience. It seems that Blades is planned for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile.
What is it about? Bethesda showcased some interesting games at the E3 press conference 2018. Among them was also a new announcement for a mobile game in the Elder Scrolls universe. After all, the mobile spin-off of the Fallout series was very successful. Therefore, it is only logical that Bethesda wants to try something similar with the venerable Elder Scrolls series.
However, The Elder Scrolls: Blades will not be a casual building game like Fallout: Shelter. The new game is more reminiscent of a classic Elder Scrolls game!
Is this still a mobile game?
Amazing graphics: The graphics were particularly impressive. The game looks extremely good and does not resemble a typical mobile game at all. Instead, one could easily think they have a console or PC game in front of them.
Crossplay for everyone!
Blades is not only playable on mobile: The title is expected to be available not just for Android and iOS, but also for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and even VR devices. Perhaps a port to the Nintendo Switch is also possible.
Once the game is released on all platforms, you can play together with all these players. Cross-progression is also expected to be possible.
If you play in the morning on your mobile phone, continue in the evening on your PC, and indulge in a VR headset over the weekend, you can always pick up where you left off on the previous platform across all these devices.
Optimized controls and handling
How is the control? Blades can be optimally controlled with the touchscreen from the typical Elder Scrolls first-person perspective. You tap on the location you want to walk to and interact with the game world in this way.
When a monster appears, you slash it in real time using gestures on the display in the best Fruit Ninja fashion. Additionally, there are skills and spells.
Also practical: You can play the game wonderfully in portrait mode. Then you always have one hand free.
The contents of Blades
What can we expect in the game? In The Elder Scrolls: Blades, besides the beautiful overworld, there are both pre-made and procedurally generated dungeons.
Will I be able to customize my hero? Here too, Blades fully adheres to TES tradition. You can customize your avatar to your heart’s content and equip it with gear and skills.
What game modes are there? Blades offers three game modes:
- The Abyss: A rogue-like endless dungeon that you can explore as long as you want
- Arena: This is where 1vs1 PvP against other players takes place
- The Town: This is your story and quest hub. You can also build and design the town to your heart’s content, which brings you bonuses. You can even visit the towns of your friends!
Release: Pre-orders and registrations already possible!
In autumn 2018, The Elder Scrolls: Blades is expected to be released as a free-to-play game for iOS and Android. Crossplay with PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and virtual reality is also planned.
