Actually, Destiny 2 wanted to make the easiest Nightfall Strike “The Lake of Shadows” a greater challenge. Thus, the strike boss received more health in the last update 3.4.0.1. But players have now found that the Nightfall is easier than ever and are farming again.
Some Nightfalls in Destiny 2 are easier to play than others. Especially “The Lake of Shadows” is considered the easiest Nightfall strike. That was also the reason why many players farmed this strike on the difficulty “Nightfall” for Ascendant Shards and good loot up and down. In update 3.4.0.1, Bungie buffed the strike boss “Grasks” and gave him more health to make it harder.
- Grasks’ health was increased by 34% to a total of 134 % of the previous value.
- The adjustment was meant to align the strike with the “modern sandbox gameplay”.
- Bungie promised that the strike boss would withstand at least one or two minutes, even against the Gjallarhorn.
- The small trick with the Taken Bubbles was also fixed, so that no more enemies can be blocked from spawning.
The strike boss barely lasts seconds even after the buff: While the fix for the “Taken Bubbles” trick has worked, it seems that nothing has changed with the strike boss itself. On the contrary. Instead of being harder, he is currently even easier.
Grasks, the corrupted and possessed Cabal boss in “The Lake of Shadows”, continues to be melted by Guardians within seconds. In most fireteams, he is down before he can even spawn additional enemies in the boss room. This doesn’t seem to have changed much even after Bungie’s buff, as players have reportedly found.
The Destiny 2 YouTuber and content creator Aoterra shows a direct comparison between “The Lake of Shadows” runs before and after Bungie’s buff in a video. If there has been a change, it apparently wasn’t very effective.
The before-after test shows hardly any difference: The test is conducted with the same loadout. One fireteam member uses the Divinity for additional damage.
- Before the patch, the strike boss was dead within 9 seconds (with Thundercrash)
- After the patch, he takes about 11 seconds
While this is fundamentally longer, it should be taken into account that in the video before the patch, a team member pulls their Arc super and flies into the boss with “Thundercrash”. This causes a lot of single damage and means: Before the patch, the Nightfall boss even had more health.
What went wrong? Bungie hasn’t commented on this yet. The buff certainly shouldn’t be that subtle. Especially since the developer spoke of the endurance of “one or two minutes” in the patch notes. The health buff that Bungie likely intended for this strike seems to show hardly any effect.
Anyone wanting to farm should hurry up: It is quite conceivable that the strike “The Lake of Shadows” will be adjusted again in the near future. However, whether this will happen this week while the strike is in the Nightfall rotation of the Vanguard playlist is unknown.
The easiest strike in Destiny 2 can thus, until further adjustments, continue to be farmed even easier than before.
