The E3, one of the most important trade fairs in the world, states that it will no longer exist. The head said in an interview that the competition has simply become too great.
For 4 consecutive years, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, short E3, has been canceled. In 2020, the fair was canceled due to Corona and other difficulties. And there will be no further E3 next year either.
Stanley Pierre-Louis, the head of the ESA, which is behind organizing the fair, has stated that there will generally be no more E3.
Too Strong Competition from Manufacturers’ Own Events
What did the head say? In an interview with the Washington Post, the CEO of the ESA, Stanley Pierre-Louis, confirmed today that the E3 is dead. As the main reason for this decision, he cited a change in the way the industry works and markets products.
Especially large fairs of the manufacturers themselves, such as Nintendo Direct, were ultimately the death blow for the most important entertainment fair. He explained to the Washington Post in an interview:
We know it is difficult to say goodbye to such a popular event, but given the new opportunities our industry has to reach fans and partners, it is the right thing to do.

Each of these large companies can create an individual showcase … [and] also collaborate with other industry events to present the range of games.
Thus, a fair like the E3 no longer has a real chance and cannot assert itself. Therefore, it is better to say goodbye with beautiful memories of the fair. Companies like Sony have already been skipping the E3 for years to market their products like the PS5 independently at their own events. Other companies like Blizzard have been relying on an in-house fair for years that is a visitor magnet.
He also distributed an indirect jab at Geoff Keighley and his potential “E3 killer”, the Summer Game Fest, which was held alongside E3. Keighley may be the most pleased with the death of the E3:
The E3 2022 is dead, but no one will really care – a replacement is already ready and rejoices
