In Destiny 2, players have found a Warlock build that they believe will soon be banned. We will show you what you need for it and what Bungie says about the toxic combination.
This is about the toxic build: Destiny 2: Beyond Light brought a load of new exotics. Players are experimenting with it and have now found a powerful build that is doubly toxic. They fear it must be a bug – but Bungie wants it this way.
MeinMMO shows you what you need for the Warlock build, why it works so well, and what the Destiny developer says about it.
These are the toxic ingredients: You don’t have to deal with mods or other mechanics, just with one old and one new exotic. You need:
- The exotic hand cannon “Dorn“
- The new exotic gloves “Nekrotic Grip”
If you missed the classic Dorn, you can buy the hand cannon at the Tower since Season 12. Go to the “Monument to Lost Lights“, the exotic kiosk.
The new exotic gloves for Warlocks can be obtained through the new Lost Sectors from Beyond Light. Soon, you will find a detailed explanation on MeinMMO about this.
This is why the two exotics are so strong together in Beyond Light
What can the new exotic do? The exotic Nekrotic Grip has the unique perk “Grip of Damnation.” With it, you poison enemies through touch and deal increasing damage to them.
For about 10 seconds, your opponent is then poisoned. If you defeat the infected enemy, regardless of how, the poison spreads like a plague and gives you melee energy.
Now comes the special feature: You do not need to land a charged melee hit for the spreading poison effect; a normal hit is enough. However, the effect is also activated through kills with Dorn.
This is how you play the combo: In PvE and PvP, you shoot with Dorn, which already poisons enemies and deals damage to them. If you then defeat an enemy with a melee hit or the hand cannon, everything in the vicinity becomes infected.
By getting a kill with Dorn, you collect the so-called “Remnant” – which reloads your weapon and increases the poison effect of Dorn again. Warlocks with a ranged melee attack can also activate the poison effect without Dorn from a distance.
- In PvE, the poison damage increases very quickly and has reached more than double damage by the end
- In PvP, a poison tick deals 5 damage – the damage is slightly higher because Destiny 2 rounds the displayed numbers
Is the combination too toxic for Destiny 2 and will it be banned soon?
Players are having real fun with their new double poison build. Some are probably even afraid of having too much fun and that it can’t be intended by Bungie. Even in their build videos, YouTubers like Aztecross wonder if it’s a bug that Dorn has such a strong synergy with Nekrotic Grip.
This is what Bungie said about it: On a corresponding reddit thread, Bungie’s Community Manager Dylan “dmg04” Gaffner has now responded. The Destiny expert Aztecross happily shared this:
According to him, this is not a “pick your poison deal – this is intended”. The Destiny developer intended for the two exotics to work together and complement each other. He continues with: “Let us know how you feel about this. The sandbox people love to get feedback on stuff like this.”
What do you think about the new exotic dream pair in Destiny 2: Beyond Light? Are you using the combo as well or have you had your own experiences? After all, you don’t have to worry that the build is so strong due to a bug.
