In The Division, the Gear Sets are introduced with the April update. More will follow in the future.
The upcoming update 1.1 brings numerous changes and adjustments to Ubisoft’s MMO shooter. Key new features include the raid “Falcon Lost” and the Gear Score, along with the introduction of the Gear Sets, the “equipment sets”.
New Gear Sets will also come after the April update in The Division
With the April update, agents will have access to four Gear Sets, which favor different playstyles:
- “Tactician’s Authority” – increases electronics and support skills
- “Striker’s Battle Gear” – provides bonuses for assault skills
- “Watchman’s Call” – enhances sniper skills
- “Nomad’s Path” – provides bonuses for lone fighters
Lead Game Designer Mathias Karlson has now confirmed in a podcast that new Gear Sets are on the way. So, the sets already presented are by no means the end. When and at what intervals these will be introduced has not been specified.
What are Gear Sets in The Division?
Gear Sets are supposed to be exciting new gear items in The Division. They consist of four parts: Once you have all parts of a set together, you gain “powerful stat bonuses” and unique talents. The individual parts of the set can be found in the “most challenging activities in Manhattan”, meaning in raids, missions, challenge modes, the Dark Zone, as well as via blueprints.
Karlson adds that the Gear Sets will represent powerful new items in the game. However, they have not been designed to be “overpowered” in PvP or PvE.
“We are doing our best to ensure that all mechanics, all stats, the skills, the armor talents, the future Gear Sets, are useful in both PvE and PvP.”
They want to avoid bringing any imbalance to the game. However, there is a catch with the Gear Sets: While they are supposed to be “stronger” than high-ends, they do not have their own talents. Therefore, the existing items of the agents will not become “useless”, as these allow variations with their different talents; they should rather not be destroyed.
In The Division, notable enemies will soon drop guaranteed high-ends from level 30+.
