In The Division, update 1.7 is approaching the agents rapidly. Massive discusses the release and the changes that will still be made by then.
The State of the Game took place on August 3rd. Community developers Hamish Bode and Yannick Banchereau provided information about the upcoming update 1.7.
When will update 1.7 be released?
At the beginning of this week, the public test servers ended. Now the agents are waiting for the launch of update 1.7 in the live game. Although there is still no concrete release date, Massive mentioned a release window: mid-August.
As larger updates in The Division are always released on Tuesdays, there are three possible dates:
What will change from the end of the PTS phase 3 to the release?
After PTS phase 3, the developers have been working on final bug fixes and balancing adjustments. They are aware of all the community reports complaining about several bugs. They are working on it. Even after the release of 1.7, the work will not stop.
One important change concerns the drop rates of classified gear. During a global event, you earn tokens with which you can buy and open crates. These crates may contain classified gear.
The drop rates now look like this:
- In the crates, there are two guaranteed item drops. These items can be classified gear, normal gear set pieces, or exotics.
- For each of these two items, there is a 45% chance that the item is classified.
- Additionally, each crate has a 12.5% chance of containing a third item. This third item is 90% classified and 10% exotic.
This means: The chance of pulling a classified gear from a crate is higher than on the PTS.
More information from the State of the Game:
- The first global event starts right at the launch of 1.7. That is at least the current plan. The event will last a week.
- This is the “Outbreak” event, which was already testable on the PTS. The first three gear sets that will be available as classified gear during this event are DeadEYE, Final Measure, and Lone Star.
- The NinjaBike backpack is back in the loot pool immediately at the launch of 1.7.
- The recent issues with lag are being investigated. The balance of shotguns, especially the SASGs, is still a topic of discussion.
