In The Division, there are big announcements. Update 1.4 will change everything. The Survival expansion will come afterwards.
Just now, the State of the Game took place. And it was significant. The community developers Hamish Bode and Yannick Banchereau talked about the future of The Division, bringing both good and bad news.
- The good news: Update 1.4 will be massive! It is set to fix numerous problems, bring balance changes, and significantly improve the player experience.
- The bad news: Update 1.4 will not arrive until October. And the Survival expansion will arrive even later.
The current issues should be solved before new content arrives
With this strategy, Massive aims to ensure that the current contents of The Division must run properly before they deliver new content. They do not want to transfer the current issues into “Survival” and do not wish to cover them up with new content.
For this purpose, with 1.4, Massive will not only eliminate individual problems or nerf or buff this or that, but completely repaint the picture of The Division. The core game will be overhauled. Large-scale bug fixes and balance changes will vastly improve the overall experience.
The October date is indeed quite late, the developers admit. However, they want to take their time this time to do it right. Because the entire system needs to be reworked. They will not repeat the old mistakes. They are talking about a redesign of the complete experience.
Note: Update 1.4 will be released on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 simultaneously. It is a free update. Only “Survival” will again be paid and will have time exclusivity for PC and Xbox One.
With this, not only will the major issues be tackled but also a variety of small annoyances. For example, in the future, you will be able to run from the Operations Base to the Terminal. So far, the agent slowly shuffles up and down there.
By the way: Update 1.4 will not deliver new gameplay content. Only the existing content will be revised and improved. Only with “Survival” will there be new things to do.
Moreover, they mention that after 1.4 it will not be over. They will continue to improve the player experience. This is an endless process.
What will happen in the coming weeks?
There’s still a while until October. What happens in the meantime? During this time, they want to communicate directly with the community – directly with you. And really directly! Soon (likely starting tomorrow), a survey will be set up where you can express why you want to talk to Massive about The Division. If selected, you can travel to Sweden and directly present your solutions, opinions, and experiences in the State of the Game.
Everyone should be eligible to be selected – not just the big YouTubers and streamers. Because everyone has an opinion. And Massive wants to hear them.
