In The Division the nerf for the G36 assault rifles is coming.
Since update 1.3, agents are hunting a true beast: the G36 assault rifle. This is currently one of the best weapons in the game, making it a lot of fun to roam the streets or the underground of New York.
The reason why these ARs feel so good has a concrete reason: They are currently overpowered, the base damage is simply too high. Massive already announced before the release of update 1.3 that the G36 would be too strong and that a nerf is in the works. And this weakening is now imminent.
G36 nerf likely this week
According to the developers, a client patch is currently in the works, which is possibly set to be released by the end of this week. Tomorrow, on July 7th, scheduled maintenance will take place. If Massive can manage it, this client patch will be rolled out at that time. By early next week at the latest, the patch should be ready.
And this upcoming client patch will include the G36 nerf. Therefore, agents only have a few hours left, maybe a few days, to experience the power of the G36 with their own hands.
A week ago, Massive mentioned that agents could play with the OP weapon without concern. It is not an exploit that would warrant punishment. However, they should be aware that the G36 will not remain this strong for long.
In the community, one often hears the opinion that this nerf is a mistake by Massive. Finally, there is a strong assault rifle that is competitive and fun to play with. Nerfing the G36 would mean nerfing the fun.
However, Massive has not been swayed. The nerf is now imminent. The extent to which the base damage of the G36 will be reduced is not yet known.
