With the upcoming expansion “Underground”, the balancing of weapons in the MMO shooter The Division will be revised.
These changes have been planned for some time now, but will make their way into the online game on June 28 (for PC and Xbox One – on PlayStation 4 on August 2). The changes mainly concern the secondary functions of the weapons.
Many changes to the weapons
SMGs will receive a bonus on critical hit damage, and the bonus chance for critical hits will be removed. Marksman Rifles will receive a bonus on headshots. Assault rifles will receive a bonus of about 20% on “Armor Shred”, which is the ability to destroy armor. However, this only applies to the PvE mode. The bonus does not come into play in PvP battles.
LMGs will receive a bonus of about 30% on damage against all targets that are not in cover, and shotguns will receive a bonus of about 200% to stagger PvE targets. As you can see, some of the changes are only aimed at the PvE mode, which several players have already complained about. The developers explain that they hope many more players will use cover in PvP, making the game more tactical.
Questionable impacts
You can watch a video that takes a closer look at the changes. How these balancing changes to the weapons affect the gameplay of The Division will only be seen when the expansion “Underground” is released, and it will be recognized through several battles whether the changes are positive or perhaps more negative. Because it’s often difficult to imagine the numbers. You have to experience what changed and how it feels and impacts.
