In The Division, the update 1.6.2 goes live today, on 27th June. It carries the version number 1.14. Here are the patch notes.
Update: The update is a hefty 2.7 GB (PS4).
This comes as quite a surprise: Last night, Massive spontaneously announced that an update would be implemented today, Tuesday. Maintenance work is necessary.
- At 10 AM our time, the servers will be shut down. The estimated downtime is two hours, so you should be able to play again by 12 PM.
What changes today? – Update 1.6.2 / 1.14
During maintenance, the update 1.6.2 will be implemented. On PS4, it has the version number 1.14. This means that Massive is not only tweaking the servers or implementing server-side fixes, but is also bringing a client fix that carries its own version number and needs to be downloaded.
The patch notes are straightforward. Only one thing is changing:
- A bug is being fixed where players could glitch through walls using mobile cover or throwable skills.
This is not a new problem. Even at the release of The Division, some agents used different skills to glitch through walls and access areas that were not intended for players. As early as mid-March 2016, we reported that some agents discovered potential DLC locations – such as Central Park or the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Both areas are still not in the game.
In the past, fixes have already been implemented to address this glitch problem. Apparently, update 1.6.2 is now supposed to completely eliminate this issue.
For this an update 1.6.2?
The community has often demanded that Massive release updates more quickly to address all issues. Massive has repeatedly emphasized that they can only resolve certain issues with client patches. And the time intervals between updates 1.1 – 1.6 were sometimes very long.
Update 1.6.2 now shows that it is indeed possible to push smaller updates between major update releases. However, some agents would have preferred more annoyances to be fixed with update 1.6.2…
