In the MMO shooter Tom Clancy’s The Division video material circulated in the last hours from the pre-alpha. Ubisoft responded harshly: They want to show something only when they are ready.
On Monday, Ubisoft is supposed to have presented The Division at GDC 2015, an industry trade show; many are waiting for reports on it, but it seems everyone is keeping quiet as there is nothing to report.
The leak comes from elsewhere. Vg247.it were apparently the wrongdoers: They received material from an early alpha and published it with a YouTube video. However, the YouTube video was quickly taken down.
In a statement to videogamer.com they stated: These are a video and several low-resolution images originating from an internal pre-alpha test to evaluate server performance. This version lacked numerous features and is by no means representative of the finished game.
These low resolution images and video originate from a pre-alpha test currently organized by the development team to evaluate the server infrastructure in a real world setting. A large portion of the game features have been removed in this build and therefore is not representative of the game’s current quality.
They are eager to show players more. But only when they are ready.
Mein MMO says: Yes, we have seen it too, and it does indeed look as ugly as Ubisoft’s harsh reaction suggests.
However, the consistent and quick response of the French did not help much: The video has already spread on other channels, and images circulating on Imgur now too. The internet does not forget, and everyone has ugly youth photos with mustaches, weird hair, and/or badly colored clothes – and now there are some from The Division, which will probably never be completely erased.
