In The Division, Update 1.7 is coming soon. Here’s how you can prepare for it.
The testing phase for Update 1.7 on PC has just started a few days ago. The release is therefore not too far away.
Many agents are wondering: What can I do now to ensure a successful start in The Division 1.7? After all, you want to step into the future well prepared, gain some advantages – and make good use of the time until Update 1.7 finally arrives. There is currently no specific release date.
The Division 1.7 – What can I do now?
For Update 1.6, preparation was easier than for Update 1.7. The reason: In 1.6, the gear score was not increased, and you could already gather the items that would be in the new meta.
With Update 1.7, the gear score will also not be increased, but classified armor pieces will be introduced. These have better stats than the previous items and thus represent the new “best” armor pieces. Since classified gear will only be introduced with the launch of 1.7, the hunt for it can only begin then.
Nevertheless, you can already do some things now.
Do not dismantle the NinjaBike Backpack
The first tip is: If you are currently cleaning out your stash to make room for 1.7, be careful not to dismantle the NinjaBike Backpack.
This exotic was long considered the worst exotic of all, which is why Massive removed it from the loot pool to avoid frustration. With Update 1.7, it will be revamped and return as an extremely exciting item.
The NinjaBike Backpack can now function as an additional item for all equipped gear sets. For example, if you have two pieces from the Striker set and three pieces from the DeadEYE set, and then equip the NinjaBike Backpack, the 3-set bonus from Striker and the 4-set bonus from DeadEYE will activate. This allows for brand new combinations.
Farm Exotic Containers
A good preparation for 1.7 would be to farm the NinjaBike Backpack if you do not have it yet. However, it has not been available since 1.6.1. But there is one thing you can do: Collect exotic containers. Because when the NinjaBike returns to the loot pool, you can open these to have a chance at the backpack.
You receive exotic containers by completing missions on legendary difficulty and incursions on Heroic. A total of 7 exotic boxes per week are possible this way. However, if you have multiple characters, you can collect even more. Additionally, weekly mission containers can also yield exotic items. You can hoard those boxes as well.
Farm Weapons and Mods
You should already think about which builds you want to create in 1.7. Some of the new bonuses of the classified gear sets are already known. While you cannot collect the classified armor pieces yet, you can gather everything else you need for your build.
Important: Classified gear has higher main attributes than normal gear, as you can see here (it ranges between 1274 and 1401):
This means that you will receive significantly higher weapon, stamina, and electronics values. In other words, you will unlock weapon talents more easily and can focus on different stats for mods.
In short: Start gathering the weapons and mods now that you might need for your build. If you want to create a recuperator build, you might be able to replace the weapon mod with an electronics mod, as you will no longer need the weapon mod to unlock that one weapon talent.
However, keep in mind that the main attributes on classified gear can still be changed until the release of 1.7.
Save Currency Now
One tip that is recommended before every new update release: Save your currencies and crafting materials. There may be fresh inventory with exciting items for the vendors that you can buy right away. Up to 5000 Phoenix Credits are possible.
It remains to be seen whether Massive will add useful blueprints. With a stock of crafting materials, you will be on the safe side.
DeadEYE, Lone Wolf, and Final Measure
At the launch of 1.7, the first global event will introduce classified gear to the sets “DeadEYE”, “Lone Wolf”, and “Final Measure”. This means that in the first month you can only optimize these three gear sets until the next global event introduces three more sets.
You can already clean out your stash and sell or dismantle the armor pieces from these three sets. The classified versions of them will definitely have better stats.
